Prayer Part 1
150
Subdue, break, and nullify all those who dispute the truth. Place truth and faith in their hearts, so the truth is revealed to them, and they all return to You in truth and with a whole heart. Reveal and publicize the truth in the world, and fulfill the verse: "Truth will sprout from the earth, and righteousness will look down from heaven." And establish peace among all Your people Israel forever.
173
Grant us the merit, in Your abundant mercy, that there should always be great love and peace among us, until we are all included within one another. May we awaken one another and remind one another to return to You in truth, to break and nullify all evil desires and bad character traits from ourselves, and to merit all good traits, to do what is good and upright in Your eyes all the days of our lives. Whatever is lacking in any one of us from all Your people, the House of Israel—whether a good trait, or the tikkun (rectification) and nullification of a bad trait—may we always merit to remind one another, to awaken, strengthen, and encourage each other to rectify everything while we are still alive. May we all merit to return to You in complete teshuvah (repentance) in truth, to rectify all that we have blemished from our youth until this very day. From now on, be our help, so that we may all truly align with Your good will, and never turn away from Your will to the right or to the left, from now until eternity. Draw down Your Divine Providence upon us in perfection.
204
Through awe, grant us the merit of peace—that there should be peace within our very bones, and the body will be nullified and included within the holy soul to truly do Your will always. May we merit perfect prayer, and may You always hear our prayer. Draw down peace into the world, and in Your abundant mercy, establish peace in the heavenly host and in the earthly host. Nullify all types of dispute from the world, for You alone, Hashem, know how many evils and corruptions are caused, Heaven forbid, by the disputes that exist now—especially the intense dispute that currently exists between the tzaddikim and the upright people of the generation, to the point that the heart of each one is divided from his friend.
308
Guard us and rescue us from all types of quarrels and disputes. Nullify baseless hatred from upon us and from upon all Your people, the House of Israel. Put it into the hearts of all those who dispute us that they should repent from their hatred and disputes. Incline their hearts toward the truth, so they will no longer stir up strife against us for no reason. Establish peace among Your people Israel forever.
409
May it be Your will, Hashem our God and God of our fathers, Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs, that You establish peace among Your people Israel. May peace multiply until it is drawn down among all the inhabitants of the world. Let there be no hatred, jealousy, competition, desire for victory, or provocation between one person and another. Rather, let there be great love and peace among everyone. Let each person know, through the love of his friend, that his friend seeks his good, desires his love, and wishes for his eternal success. May they be able to gather and assemble together, each one with his friends, speaking with one another and explaining the truth to each other. May they awaken and remind one another to look very carefully at themselves in this world—a passing world that is like the blink of an eye, a passing shadow, not like the shadow of a palm tree or a wall, but like the shadow of a flying bird. Let each person speak and converse with his friend: What is the ultimate purpose of all the desires and vanities of this world? For what reason did we come to this lowly world? May they speak abundantly with one another in love, brotherhood, and truly great affection, from the depths of the heart, without any desire for victory or provocation whatsoever. Let each one awaken his friend to return to Hashem in truth, to cast away his idols of silver and gold. Let them no longer walk in the stubbornness of their evil hearts, nor turn after dishonest gain all their days, nor chase after luxuries to amass vain wealth. Let them drive out the spirit of foolishness from within themselves. May peace multiply and grow in the world, until all of Israel returns to You in truth, in complete teshuvah (repentance), according to Your good will. May all the nations of the world also be awakened; may they recognize the absolute truth and all return to You, accepting the yoke of Your Kingship upon themselves. And may the verse be fulfilled: "For then I will turn to the peoples a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Hashem, to serve Him shoulder to shoulder."
422
May we merit to sing, rejoice, and play melodies before You—songs and praises to Your Name and to Your service in truth, always. May we merit to awaken, in Your mercy, the "Song of Songs which is Solomon's," the song that is exalted above all songs. May we merit all ten types of melody with which the Book of Psalms was composed. Bless us with Your good peace, and bestow peace upon Your people Israel forever. Let there be peace among all of Israel, between one person and another, and between a husband and his wife. Let there be no hatred, jealousy, competition, or provocation among all of Israel, Your people, forever. May peace multiply and grow until it is drawn down among all the inhabitants of the world, until each and every person can awaken his friend to the truth—to look toward his eternal purpose and not waste his days on vanity and emptiness. Let every man cast away his idols of silver and gold, and may they all return to You in truth, to serve You truly with awe and love. Grant us the merit to receive the Sabbath of peace with great and immense joy and gladness always. Spread over us Your shelter of peace. May we merit peace within our bodies; heal us with a healing of the soul and a healing of the body, so there is no conflict among the four elements within our bodies, but rather they should all conduct themselves in an equal temperament, in great peace. Remove illness from our midst, and send a complete healing to the sick of Your people, the House of Israel (and specifically to [insert name] son of [insert mother's name], etc.).
497
Grant us the merit, in Your abundant mercy, that the hidden Torah and the hidden tzaddikim be revealed to us. Even if the world is not currently worthy to use this Hidden Light—which is the hidden Torah and the hidden tzaddikim—nevertheless, deal with us beyond the letter of the law. Awaken Your true mercy and kindness upon us, and help us with Your great goodness and grace, so that we may merit, in Your abundant mercy, the revelation of the hidden tzaddikim and the hidden Torah. For You know, Hashem our God, that we currently have no support or hope other than through the hidden tzaddikim and the hidden Torah. They alone protect us now in the depth of this bitter exile, in the footsteps of Mashiach. Have pity on us in Your mercy; let Your compassion be stirred for us. Help us conquer our evil inclination, to turn away from evil completely according to Your good will, and to do what is good in Your eyes always. May we merit to enjoy and taste, even in this world, from the Hidden Light that is concealed and sown for the tzaddikim, as it is written: "Light is sown for the tzaddik, and joy for the upright of heart." And it is written: "Say of the tzaddik that it is good, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds." Draw down peace upon Your people Israel forever, and nullify all types of dispute from the world. Through the abundance of peace, may all those who are far away be drawn and brought close to Your service and Your awe in truth. Even those who are very, very far from holiness, at the ultimate distance—even those who are sunken and soiled in all kinds of abominations, filth, and dirt—may they all be truly awakened and return to You from wherever they are, through the power of the true tzaddikim who are constantly engaged in revealing Your Godliness and publicizing Your Mastership to all the inhabitants of the world, making peace between Israel and their Father in Heaven. Draw down, even now in this world, the wondrous peace that You will reveal in the Future to Come, as it is written: "The wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the kid; the calf, the young lion, and the fatling together, and a little child will lead them. They will not harm or destroy on all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Hashem as the waters cover the sea." And fulfill the verse: "He creates the expression of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far and to him who is near, says Hashem, and I will heal him. Abundant peace to those who love Your Torah, and there is no stumbling block for them. Hashem will give strength to His people; Hashem will bless His people with peace." Amen, Netzach, Selah, Va'ed.
503
Therefore, grant me the merit to speak with the entirety of Israel, Your holy nation, regarding Torah, Divine service, and the fear of Heaven. May I merit to receive good illumination and an awakening toward Hashem, blessed be He, from all the holy points that exist in each and every Jew, which his fellow does not possess. May we merit that there be great love and peace among all of Israel, Your people. Let each and every one speak with his friend in the fear of Heaven, until all of us, Your people, the House of Israel, are included within one another in love, brotherhood, and friendship. Let each one receive from his friend an awakening toward Hashem, blessed be He, from the holy point that his friend possesses more than he does. May we receive from one another, and awaken one another to Your service and Your Torah, in absolute truth.
575
"He who makes peace in His heights," Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs: May it be Your will to have mercy on us in Your abundant compassion. Draw down peace into the world, establish peace among all Your people Israel, and nullify all types of disputes from the world. For You know, Master of the entire universe, how many evils and troubles the disputes among Israel have caused us—especially the immense dispute that has now spread in the footsteps of Mashiach, among all the tzaddikim, Torah scholars, and upright people of the generation, creating accusation among Torah scholars. Have mercy on us in Your compassion, subside Your anger from upon us, and draw down mercy, life, and peace upon us and upon all Your people Israel forever. Put it into the heart of each and every person to have mercy on his friend, and to love his friend truly with a soul-deep love. May we merit to truly fulfill the mitzvah to "love your neighbor as yourself" with all our heart, in body, soul, and wealth—for this mitzvah is a great fundamental principle of the Torah. Nullify all types of hatred, jealousy, provocation, and the desire for victory that stem from the Sitra Achra (the Other Side) from the world. Let no person's jealousy rise against me, nor my jealousy against others. Rather, let there be great peace, love, brotherhood, and friendship among all Your people Israel, always, forever and ever.
582
Nullify all types of dispute from the world. Draw down mercy, life, peace, satisfaction, blessing, and an abundance of goodness upon us and upon all Your people, the House of Israel, from now until eternity. Fulfill for us the verse: "He will love you, bless you, and multiply you; He will bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain, your wine, and your oil, the offspring of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep, upon the land that He swore to your fathers to give you." And it is said: "For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you. He makes your borders peaceful; He satisfies you with the finest wheat." And it is said: "You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the Name of Hashem your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame. You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Hashem your God, and there is no other; and My people shall never be put to shame. Hashem will give strength to His people; Hashem will bless His people with peace."
607
May we merit to nullify all types of dispute from the world, and let the left be included within the right. Draw down great peace into the world, and nullify sword, killing, and destruction from the world. Fulfill the verse: "I will grant peace in the land, and no sword shall pass through your land." Pity and have mercy on us. Grant us the merit to pray our prayers before You with great concentration, with heart and soul, with great awakening, with immense awe and fear, with self-sacrifice out of love, with great and immense joy and gladness, and with pure and proper thoughts. Rebuke all foreign thoughts so they have no power to confuse our prayers, Heaven forbid. Full of mercy, grant me the merit, in Your abundant compassion, to always have purity of thought, and especially during the time of our prayers, supplications, and requests. For our strength lies only in our mouths, and we currently have no support other than prayer and supplications. Help us pray before You with great awakening and a burning heart, until my hands are awakened to Hashem. May we merit to clap our hands in great holiness during prayer. "Let us lift our hearts with our hands to God in heaven. I spread out my hands to You; my soul is like a weary land to You, Selah. My soul is continually in my hand, yet I have not forgotten Your Torah."
703
Grant me the merit, in Your abundant mercy, to let out a true sigh from the depths of my heart in truth. In this way, may I merit through my sighing to return, to revive, and to heal the pulse of holiness in my heart. May the pulse return and flow properly through all the limbs, and especially in the hands, until my hands are rectified and purified through this. May I quickly merit to rectify the blemish of the hands—all that I have blemished with my hands from my youth until this day—until I merit to raise and lift my hands to Hashem, "God Most High, Maker of heaven and earth." May I merit to fulfill the verse: "Let us lift our hearts with our hands to God in heaven." Grant me the merit to always be in a state of joy. Let no sadness or melancholy come upon me at all. May I merit true holiness and purity, ascending each time from level to level in great holiness, until I merit, through the power of the true tzaddikim, to receive words from Heaven. May I merit to know, understand, and grasp the concept of holy dispute, knowing that in truth, it is not a dispute at all, but rather love, brotherhood, friendship, and very great and immense peace, for "these and those are the words of the living God." Make Your ways known to me, and grant me the merit to draw closer and cleave even more to the true tzaddikim, whose rulings are the established law in every place.
752
Have mercy on us and save us, our Father in Heaven, Master of all, Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs. Draw down upon us blessing, life, and peace. Rescue us from all types of quarrels and disputes. Protect us and remove from us enemy, pestilence, sword, famine, and sorrow. Remove the Satan from before us and from behind us. Please rescue us from the hand of our enemies and pursuers, both physically and spiritually. Rescue us from all those who dispute and hate us, from all informers who speak evil against our souls, and from all accusers. Shut their mouths, "so their hands cannot execute their plans." As for all those who rise up against us for evil, quickly annul their counsel and frustrate their thoughts. May the verse be fulfilled in them: "Devise a plan, and it will be annulled; speak a word, and it will not stand, for God is with us." And it is said: "Hashem annuls the counsel of nations; He frustrates the thoughts of peoples." Guard us and rescue us in Your abundant mercy, so that the dispute does not harm us at all, neither physically nor spiritually. Rather, may we merit, through the dispute, to return in complete teshuvah (repentance) for all our sins, iniquities, and transgressions—and especially for the blemish of Emunas Chachamim (faith in the Sages), where I blemished the honor of the true Sages and their holy books, failing to believe in them perfectly and truly. Their words were superfluous to me, and their words and holy books were not precious and important in my eyes.
768
Therefore, help me in Your abundant mercy that I may merit to engage in the books of the Poskim (Halachic deciders) with great diligence. Help me and save me to study the books of the Poskim abundantly every single day. Open my mind and prepare my heart so that I may merit to learn with great speed, to understand the law thoroughly, and to clarify and elucidate the final Halachic ruling in all the laws of the Torah in absolute truth. May I merit to know the true decisive ruling among all the masters of holy dispute who differ in the laws of the Torah. May I merit to make peace and bring resolution between them. Through this peace, may peace be drawn down and cascade through all the worlds, until peace spreads even in this world. Establish peace among all Your people Israel forever, and nullify all types of dispute from the world. May peace multiply in the world until everyone can gather together with his friends, explaining the absolute truth to one another, reminding each other not to waste their days on vanity and emptiness, until they all return to the truth and serve You truly with complete faith. Grant us the merit that there be peace within our very bones, so that our hearts are not divided, Heaven forbid, from You. Rather, may we merit to believe in You and in Your true tzaddikim, and to serve You in truth and with a whole heart, with both of our inclinations. May we merit to know with complete, true knowledge and a whole heart that the whole earth is full of Your glory, and that You Yourself, in Your glory, stand beside us during prayer. You hear, listen, and pay attention to every single word of our prayers. Let us feel Your Godliness upon us always, and especially during prayer, until we are awakened by this with a great awakening to pray with great enthusiasm, with great and immense concentration, being very precise to direct our words, so that no word leaves our mouths in prayer without concentration.
837
Therefore, have mercy on us and on all Your people Israel. Establish peace among all Your people Israel forever, and nullify all types of dispute from Your people Israel. Let there be no jealousy, hatred, or provocation, nor any quarrel or dispute against Your people Israel—the upright ones who desire, yearn, and long to serve You in truth, and especially against the true tzaddikim and Sages. For due to our many sins, dispute and accusation have now multiplied among Torah scholars, "and for him who goes out and him who comes in there is no peace." The whole world is full of dispute. This dispute greatly harms our ability to serve You in truth, as You know. This is especially true of the intense dispute that constantly overpowers those who are far away but are coming to return to You, to draw close to Your great Name, and to serve You in truth. For those who dispute against them and against those engaged in bringing them close have multiplied, for no reason and over nothing.
838
Please, Hashem, full of mercy, Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs: Rescue us from quarrel and dispute. Grant us the merit of a clear mind, knowledge, and an intellect that is pure and lucid, without any waste at all. Grant us the merit that our minds be quiet and calm, not confused at all. Let all the waste and excess in the mind be nullified, until we merit that the enemies and haters who draw sustenance from our minds are nullified, consumed, and fallen. For we have no knowledge of how to fight our enemies and those who pursue us for no reason, nor how to conduct ourselves with them. For our intention is desirable and for the sake of Heaven, and we desire to serve You in truth and to return to You in complete teshuvah (repentance) quickly. We do not desire any dispute at all. Full of mercy, have pity on the poor of the flock, on a drawn and plucked people, a poor and needy nation. Have mercy, save, and rescue such weak ones from quarrel and dispute. For we have no one to rely on except our Father in Heaven. Upon You alone have we cast our burden; upon You alone do we lean. Our eyes hang upon You until You show us grace.
882
"Rescue me, Hashem, from an evil man; preserve me from a man of violence, who devise evils in their heart; every day they stir up wars. All day long they twist my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil." Master of the universe, Lord of the entire world, You know the immense proliferation of dispute that has overpowered the world now. Because of this, very many evil thoughts fall upon us, without measure or value. Due to our many sins, through the intensity of the dispute, thoughts of heresy against the upright people of the generation arise, as You have revealed to us through Your holy Sages. In our great poverty and weakness, we know no advice or tactic to stand against the evil thoughts and the many confusions that wash over us at all times. We have no one to rely on except our Father in Heaven. We cast ourselves upon You alone; into Your hand we entrust our spirit. We hand the entire battle over to You alone, and You will fight for us. For You are a Man of War, as it is written: "Hashem is a Man of War, Hashem is His Name." And who can stand against You? Full of mercy, who pities the poor, who is close to those who call upon Him in truth: Pity and have mercy on us. Look now upon our affliction and champion our cause. "Champion, Hashem, against those who strive with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise up to my help." Fight for us against our oppressors, and let the verse be fulfilled in us: "Hashem will fight for you, and you shall remain silent." Help us, for we lean upon You. Our eyes are lifted to the heights, Hashem; our guarantors have oppressed us. See "that power is gone, and there is none retained or left." Show us grace, God, for man pants after us; all day long a fighter oppresses us. "And we do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You." Do it for Your sake, not for ours.
885
Help us, help us! Show us grace, show us grace! Rescue us from the strife of tongues. Rescue us and guard us so that the great dispute currently in the world does not harm our Divine service at all—especially the accusation that now exists between Torah scholars and the upright people of the generation. Pity and have mercy on us, so that no dispute harms us, neither physically nor spiritually. Banish and nullify all evil thoughts from upon us and from our borders. For we have no advice or tactic against them; rather, upon You alone do we cast all our burdens, and You will fight for us. As it is written: "On the day I am afraid, I will trust in You. For those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head. Hashem, how many are my adversaries! Many rise up against me. Much have they distressed me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me. The plowers plowed upon my back; they made their furrows long. Hashem is righteous; He has cut the cords of the wicked. Let all who seek my soul be put to shame and humiliated; let those who plot my evil be turned back and confounded. And my soul shall rejoice in Hashem; it shall exult in His salvation. All my bones shall say: Hashem, who is like You, who rescues the poor from one stronger than he, the poor and needy from the one who robs him." See my tears, my sighing, my groaning, the bitterness of my heart, and my eyes pining away for Your true salvation. "Do not forsake me, Hashem; my God, do not be far from me. Hasten to my help, Lord, my salvation. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Hashem, my Rock and my Redeemer."
917
Master of the universe, You know all that the dispute has caused in the world. Already, "the strength of the bearer has stumbled," for even on my own I am very, very weak in strength, as You know. Added to this is the overpowering of the dispute, and especially the accusation between the tzaddikim and the Torah scholars themselves, to the point that we do not know who the true tzaddik is who relates to the root of our soul, through whom we can receive eternal benefit.
964
Master of the universe, grant me the merit, in Your abundant mercy, to attain the trait of peace. May I merit to be a lover of peace and a pursuer of peace always, as it is written: "Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." May I merit at all times to make peace between a person and his friend, and between a husband and his wife. Guard me and rescue me, in Your abundant mercy, from the trait of seeking victory and from the dispute of the Sitra Achra (the Other Side). Let there be no desire for victory or dispute of the Sitra Achra in my heart, which are drawn from the blood of the body that has not yet served Hashem, blessed be He. Have mercy on me, save me, and grant me the merit from now on to engage abundantly in Torah and prayer. May I merit to speak abundantly in Torah and prayer every single day, always, until I insert all the drops of blood within me into the holy words of Torah and prayer. Let all the drops of blood within me become holy words of Torah and prayer, and let no drop of blood remain in me that has not served Hashem, blessed be He. Rather, may I merit to serve Hashem, blessed be He, with all my strength, all the days of my life, with all the drops of blood within me. May I merit to speak abundantly in Torah and prayer until the body is completely nullified, becoming literally like nothingness and zero.
967
Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs, who makes peace and creates everything: Help us and save us all, that we may always merit to hold fast to the trait of peace. Let there be truly great peace between every person and his friend, and between a husband and his wife. Let there be no dispute, even in the heart, among any people. For You make peace in Your heights, and You connect two opposites together—fire and water—and in Your immense wonders, You make peace between them. So too, draw down great peace upon us and upon the entire world, in such a way that all opposites connect together in great peace and great love. May they all be included in one mind and one heart to draw close to You and to Your Torah in truth. May they all become one unified group to do Your will with a whole heart. Hashem is Peace; bless us with peace. And through this, draw down upon us all the blessings, all the abundance, and all the salvations.
1000
"I will dwell in Your tent forever; I will take refuge in the shelter of Your wings, Selah." Master of the universe, rescue me from dispute. Help me and save me that I may merit to hold back my desire for dispute, that I should have no desire to engage in dispute, Heaven forbid. Rather, I will always strengthen myself with all my might to quiet quarrel and dispute, and to always pursue peace in truth. Until I merit, through this, that they will speak words of Halacha in my name after my passing from the world, and my lips will move in the grave. May I merit to dwell in both worlds and never die, but rather always be truly included among the living.
1034
My God, guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking deceit. To those who curse me, let my soul be silent, and let my soul be like dust to all. Master of the universe, Master of Peace, grant me the merit to truly be a man of peace. May I merit to be a lover of peace and a pursuer of peace always, in truth and with a whole heart. Let me never hold onto dispute at all, ever—even against those who dispute me, rise up against me, and dig tunnels beneath me, Heaven forbid, doing to me what they do, may the Merciful One protect me. Grant me the merit and help me that I do not stand against them to do to them as they do to me. Rather, on the contrary, may I merit to judge them favorably and do all kinds of good for them. May I truly fulfill "and let my soul be like dust to all," as it is written: "Do not say, 'As he did to me, so I will do to him; I will repay the man according to his deed.'" And it is written: "Do not say, 'I will repay evil'; hope in Hashem, and He will save you." May I merit to be literally like dust, which everyone treads upon, yet it gives them all good things. Through this, may I merit to nullify and frustrate the thoughts of my enemies and haters, "so their hands cannot execute their plans." May the verse be fulfilled in them: "He who digs a pit will fall into it, and he who rolls a stone, it will return upon him." And all those who rise up against me for evil, quickly annul their counsel and frustrate their thoughts.
1036
Our Father in Heaven, King to whom peace belongs: You know the entire proliferation of dispute that has multiplied in our generations in several ways—between tzaddikim, intermediate people, and the wicked. The dispute of the Sitra Achra (the Other Side) wants to overpower and spread every day, openly and in secret, to the point that many have stumbled and fallen through the proliferation of disputes, differences of opinion, and separation of hearts that has greatly multiplied in our generations due to our many sins. For an accusation has been created between Torah scholars and those who accompany them, to the point that it is difficult to discern and distinguish between holy dispute and the dispute of the Sitra Achra. Many have fallen completely from Emunas Chachamim (faith in the Sages) because of this, and through this, they have fallen to wherever they have fallen, may the Merciful One save us. For Emunas Chachamim is the foundation of the entire Torah, for they are our life and the length of our days, and without them, we cannot lift our hands or our feet in any matter of holiness. In the distress of these times, as the exile has lengthened over us and the subjugation has dragged on, our minds are not clear at all. I do not know what to do, how to conduct myself in this, or how to direct my mind in this. To which of the holy ones shall I turn? I have watched, and I am like a lonely bird on a roof. I do not know from where my help will come, for I am more boorish than any man, and I do not have human understanding to discern and know who the true tzaddikim and Sages are who have the power to advise me with true counsel, to guide me on the path of uprightness and truth, and to bring me close to You, my Father in Heaven. Due to my many sins, my mind is so limited that I do not even know how to express my conversation before You regarding this perfectly and properly. For the troubles of my heart have expanded very, very much even without this, and added to this is the proliferation of dispute and separation of hearts that has multiplied in the world, in several aspects, manners, and different matters. Now I do not know at all what to do—how to conduct myself, how to speak, how to chirp, how to hint, or how to pray about this. I am confused like a drunkard, and I do not know at all where I am in the world, or what my end and ultimate purpose will be.
1037
Full of mercy, who pities the poor, "who rescues the poor from one stronger than he, the poor and needy from the one who robs him": Teach me how to express my conversation before You now, how to awaken Your true mercy upon me now. Rescue me from quarrel and dispute in all ways. Help me, save me, and rescue me so that they do not dispute or quarrel with me, neither physically nor spiritually, neither above nor below. Guard me and rescue me so that I will not dispute any upright person in the world, and all the more so, that there should be no trace of dispute in my heart against true tzaddikim—and especially against the holy tzaddikim who dwell in the dust, who are in the earth. I will not go out to quarrel with any person. Rather, may I merit to love all of Israel and to maintain peace with everyone, truly fulfilling the verse: "Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it."
1039
Guard me and rescue me, in Your abundant mercy, from poverty, destitution, and lack of parnassah (livelihood) that comes through quarrel and dispute, Heaven forbid. For it is revealed and known before You that I desire peace and truth very much. What can I do if enemies and those who dispute me for no reason are found? "I am peace, but when I speak, they are for war." Full of mercy, have mercy, pity, and compassion on me and on all those who desire to draw close to the paths of holiness in truth, against whom baseless enemies awaken, pursuing them with several types of persecution, and gnashing their teeth at them for no reason, over nothing. Have mercy on them and on us for Your sake, and rescue me from them. "Rescue me from my enemies, my God; protect me from those who rise up against me. Guard my soul and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I have taken refuge in You."
1044
Help me, Master of Salvations. Save me in everything in which I need to be saved, for my needs are very, very numerous, and my mind is too limited to explain and articulate even a fraction of them. Rescue me from quarrel and dispute. Grant me the merit of true peace in all aspects. Grant me the merit of true love of friends. Grant me the merit to walk in the paths of the true tzaddikim, until I merit to be according to Your will and the will of those who fear You in truth, from now until eternity. Place our portion with them, and may I never be put to shame, for I have trusted in You, and I have leaned upon Your truly great kindness. "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Hashem, my Rock and my Redeemer." He who makes peace in His heights, may He in His mercy make peace upon us and upon all Israel, and say, Amen.
1070
Full of mercy, Master of Truth and Peace: You know from where all the dispute in the world is drawn, especially the dispute that has formed in our generations between Torah scholars and their followers, through which several souls have sunk because of this dispute. Have mercy on us and on them. Reveal the absolute truth in the world, and do what You will do in Your mercy, in such a way that there will be unity and great peace among us, Israel Your holy people, whom You have chosen. If the dispute, Heaven forbid, is from my side—because I am far from the holiness of those who dispute me, and because of this their hearts are divided from me—have mercy on me for the sake of Your Name. Grant us the merit, in Your abundant mercy, to quickly return in complete teshuvah (repentance) before You in truth, until I reach the holiness and level of all of Israel who are higher than me in their level of holiness and purity. May I reach their place in truth and unite with them in truth and great peace. And if the opposite is true—that their dispute against us is because they are far and lower than us, and therefore they are jealous, provoke us, and dispute us—have mercy on us for the sake of Your Name. Grant us the merit to always judge all those who dispute us favorably. Teach us, in Your abundant mercy, how to find merit and good in them, even in the fact that they dispute us, in such a way that we merit to elevate them and bring them into the scale of merit in truth, until they unite [with us] in truth, in ultimate and perfect unity, in such a way that the dispute is nullified from upon us and from all of Israel. For within "One," dispute is not applicable. Put it into the hearts of those who dispute and oppose the truth that they should all repent from their hatred and dispute, and always draw themselves toward truth and peace, as it is stated: "Love truth and peace." As for all the haters and disputers who do not desire peace, who overpower themselves to hold onto dispute, and who do not desire to return to the truth—subdue them and lower them to the dust. Let them all fall and not rise. "Let the lying lips be silenced, which speak arrogantly against the righteous with pride and contempt. May Hashem cut off all smooth lips, the tongue that speaks boastfully. Let the adversaries of my soul be put to shame and consumed; let those who seek my evil be wrapped in disgrace and humiliation. Let all my enemies be very ashamed and dismayed; let them turn back and be ashamed in an instant."
1071
Have mercy on us for the sake of Your Name, and establish peace in the world. For You know how very much dispute harms Israel. Have mercy, have mercy, full of compassion! Act with Your wonders and awesome deeds in such a way that You draw down peace into the world in truth. May the verse quickly be fulfilled: "And all your children shall be taught of Hashem, and great shall be the peace of your children. Abundant peace to those who love Your Torah, and there is no stumbling block for them. And may you see children born to your children; peace be upon Israel. May there be peace within your walls, tranquility within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will now speak peace within you. For the sake of the House of Hashem our God, I will seek your good. Hashem will give strength to His people; Hashem will bless His people with peace." He who makes peace in His heights, may He make peace upon us and upon all Israel, and say, Amen.
1125
Master of the entire universe, have mercy on me and do not destroy me. Rescue me from quarrel and dispute. Pity my soul and guard me so that I do not deceive myself into saying that it is a mitzvah to speak about these people. For I do not desire such mitzvos—neither them nor their reward. Pity and have mercy on our souls, our spirits, and our breath. Rescue us and all of Israel from Lashon Hara (evil speech) and dispute, and especially regarding the dispute that is common now between the leaders of the generation and their followers, and the accusation between Torah scholars and their followers.
1138
"Hashem supports all the fallen and straightens all the bent." Pity, have compassion, and have mercy on us and on all the souls of Your people, the House of Israel, who are lying in the place where they are lying. Reveal to them and to us the true tzaddikim in this generation who have the power to rectify the souls of Israel, and to return them to You and to Your Torah in truth. Grant us all, the House of Israel, the merit to draw close to them in truth. For You know the immense magnitude of the dispute in these generations against the true tzaddikim, against their holy books, and against all those who accompany them and are called by their holy name. You know all that has passed regarding this matter, and what is still passing now regarding this matter. For a great accusation has been created between Torah scholars and their followers, and the dispute still stands in its place, awakening and overpowering more each time. Certainly, Your intention is for the good, so that souls will draw close to the true tzaddikim through suffering and great obstacles. For it is not fitting to bring them close through greatness, but only through dispute, suffering, and many obstacles, as You have informed us through Your holy Sages that for this reason, converts are not accepted in the days of Mashiach, etc. But the dispute and the obstacles are too much, making it hard to bear. It is very difficult for any soul from Israel to draw close to the true tzaddikim and their holy paths due to the immense magnitude of the limitless dispute and obstacles. And now, what shall we do, our Father in Heaven, Master of all, full of mercy, who knows hidden things, foresees secrets, and examines the kidneys and the heart? Have mercy on us and on all of Israel. Lighten the dispute and quiet the quarrel. Draw down peace into the world. For in the distress of these times, even if there is great peace, the obstacles upon each and every person are still limitless. And certainly, all the days of the exile, each and every person must draw close to the truth through suffering and obstacles, even if there is peace in the world.
1143
Master of the universe, have mercy on me and rescue me from quarrel and dispute. For You know my heart, that in truth I do not desire any dispute at all. For who am I that I should have a dispute with any person in the world, since everyone is infinitely better than me? But You know the immense dispute that has multiplied in the world, to the point that even one who truly desires peace is disputed against, as it is written: "I am peace, but when I speak, they are for war." And You know what the dispute causes due to our many sins. For even without this, it is very difficult to bring forth the words of prayer, and added to this is how much the dispute hinders the words of prayer. And now, what shall we do, our Father in Heaven? How can we take the words to pray before You, since dispute has multiplied so much in the world? For the whole world is full of dispute, "and for him who goes out and him who comes in there is no peace." Have mercy on me, full of compassion. Instruct me and teach me how to conduct myself with the whole world in such a way that there will be no dispute at all, only true peace and truth.
Part 2
252
And for this I have come before You, my Father in Heaven, who pities the poor, whose way is to seek out the pursued—even when a tzaddik pursues a wicked person. Act for the sake of Your Name, and help me and save me always to flee and run to You at all times, from all types of persecution, dispute, and accusation, Heaven forbid, and from all types of enemies and haters. From all of them, I will flee and run to You alone, and through this, I will merit to draw closer to You more and more. Help me to lower and subdue my enemies beneath me. Open their eyes so they may see the truth—that all their dispute and persecution is for nothing, for I have no business with them, and I truly desire peace. "I am peace, but when I speak, they are for war." Help me and save me, full of mercy, who desires the truth. "Guard my soul and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I have taken refuge in You. Rescue me from my enemies, my God; protect me from those who rise up against me. Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and my pursuers," physically and spiritually. For I have no one to rely on except You, our Father in Heaven, and upon the power of the true tzaddikim, whose holy and true paths I yearn to walk in. For Your sake and for their sake, act, and not for us. Strengthen us, encourage us, and grant us the merit to draw close to You in truth. Let no disputer, preventer, or hinderer have the power, physically or spiritually, to distance us from Your true service in any way. Strengthen weak hands, and make firm tottering knees. Make it so that I walk in Your statutes and keep Your commandments—I, my offspring, all those who accompany me, and all the House of Israel, from now until eternity. "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable before You, Hashem, my Rock and my Redeemer." He who makes peace in His heights, may He in His mercy make peace upon us and upon all Israel, and say, Amen.
271
Establish peace, goodness, blessing, life, grace, kindness, and mercy upon us and upon all Israel, Your people. Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs, bless us with peace. Remember me and all the members of my household for a good life and for peace, and rescue us from poverty and lack. Master of the universe, have mercy on us and on all of Israel. Guard us and rescue us from quarrel and dispute. For You know how hated dispute is, and how great peace is. Teach me and instruct me how to conduct myself with all the inhabitants of the world in such a way that I may merit to be in peace together with all the people of the earth, and even with those who dispute me. Put into my heart a true path and counsel, according to Your good will, so that I may merit to know how to conduct myself with them, with each and every one, in such a way that I will not hold onto dispute. Rather, may I merit to always be a lover of peace and a pursuer of peace in truth, as it is written: "Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Have mercy on us and guard us so that the dispute in the world does not cause us to become famous prematurely, Heaven forbid. For You have informed us in Your mercy of the great blemish and loss that comes from this, Heaven forbid.
274
Master of the universe, fulfill our requests for the good in mercy. For my needs are very numerous, and my mind is too limited to explain and articulate them. For in every single matter that I begin to arrange a prayer about, there are many things in my heart to appease You and to pray before You about them. But my mind is clouded, my arguments are blocked, and I cannot detail with my mouth all the needs of my requests and all my desires regarding every holy matter that I engage in praying about. But You understand all the hidden things of the heart, and You know our secrets. Gracious and merciful One, act for Your sake and save us for the sake of Your Name. Instruct us in Your ways, and incline our hearts to truly fear Your Name. Rescue us and guard us from all types of quarrel, dispute, hatred, jealousy, and provocation that have multiplied greatly in the world due to our many sins. Have mercy on us for the sake of Your Name, for the sake of Your Torah, and for the sake of the true holiness of the true tzaddikim. Quiet the dispute quickly, and establish great peace among all the creations in the world. Reveal the truth in the world, and send us true tzaddikim in every generation who will teach us at all times the path in which we should walk and the deeds we should do. In this way, may each and every one of us merit to return to You in truth from all the places and matters in which he has fallen and wandered, and let no banished one be cast away from You. Remember Your love and Your compassion that You have for every single Jew, even for the lightest of the light and the worst of the worst. "Remember Your mercies, Hashem, and Your kindnesses, for they are from of old." Do not forsake us and do not abandon us in this impoverished generation. Send us true leaders who are worthy to lead us in truth according to Your good will, "so that the congregation of Hashem will not be like sheep that have no shepherd."
312
In Your mercy, establish peace between Yourself and Israel Your people, and do not remove Your love from them forever. Draw down peace upon Israel Your people. Let there be great and wondrous peace between a person and his friend, and between a husband and his wife. Let there be no hatred, jealousy, quarrel, or provocation between a person and his friend, or between a husband and his wife—and especially between an upright husband and wife, whose union is very precious, upon which the Supernal Union depends, and the Shechinah (Divine Presence) dwells between them. Help and have mercy so that there is no hatred or jealousy between them, in the merit and power of the awesome, holy books that were burned and concealed from the world because of this, as You have revealed to us through Your holy Sages. Help us and grant us the merit that these books, which remain from the true tzaddikim—a few out of many—should spread and go out into the world. May their wellsprings spread outward, accomplishing their action perfectly. May the spirit of Mashiach be drawn into the world, creating a spirit of jealousy to purify Israel from the filth of the desire for immorality. May we and all Your people, the House of Israel, merit to break and completely nullify this desire from ourselves. Let no evil thought or contemplation come upon us, Heaven forbid. Rather, may we merit to be holy and separated in great holiness and purity, truly according to Your good will. Let us not engage in this except when necessary for the existence of the world, and give us the strength to fulfill this mitzvah in truly great holiness and purity, according to Your good will.
363
Master of the universe, have mercy on us for the sake of Your Name. See our lowliness and our disgrace. "Look down from heaven and see," for we have become a mockery and a derision. And it is not enough for us that we are despised and lowly among the nations, who stand over us every day to destroy us, and You save us from their hands—but even among Your people Israel themselves, dispute has multiplied greatly. A great accusation has been created among Torah scholars, to the point that their hearts are divided from one another, and each one is despised and rejected in the eyes of his friend, until "the strength of the bearer has stumbled."
384
In Your abundant mercy, establish peace upon Your people Israel forever, and nullify all types of dispute from the world. Elevate honor from its exile. Let them no longer chase after honor; rather, let everyone flee from honor, and let each person honor his friend in truth, with love, brotherhood, and great peace. May we all merit—we, our entire fellowship, and all Your people, the House of Israel—to align our minds together. Give us one heart and one path to fear You, to do Your will, and to return to You in absolute truth. Help, protect, and save us and all of Israel, so that the blemished minds of the Diaspora have no power to ruin, Heaven forbid, the minds of Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel), to introduce dispute even into Eretz Yisrael, Heaven forbid. Rather, on the contrary, grant us the merit, help us, and save us so that we may merit that the minds of Eretz Yisrael overpower, strengthen, and perfectly rectify the minds of the Diaspora. In this way, all the minds of the Diaspora will be transformed into the minds of Eretz Yisrael. All types of dispute will be nullified from the world, and great peace will multiply in the world. There will be great peace between every person and his friend, and between a husband and his wife, and especially among the friends who desire to fear Your Name.
385
Master of the universe, Master of Peace, King to whom peace belongs: You know the great overpowering and provocation that constantly overpowers and provokes to ruin the peace among friends and Torah scholars, especially in these generations in the footsteps of Mashiach. You also know how very much the dispute and conflicts that have awakened among Your people Israel for no reason harm us, and especially the dispute between the tzaddikim and the upright. Before You all the hidden things of the heart are revealed—that we know no way to rectify this. We lean only upon You, that You will draw down peace from the Source of Peace, from Eretz Yisrael, from the minds of Eretz Yisrael.
386
Master of the universe, True Merciful One: Please have mercy on the worthy and upright poor of Eretz Yisrael. Help us and save us so that we may merit to send them their sufficient needs with dignity. Let the dispute in the world have no power to prevent or confuse the charity for Eretz Yisrael, Heaven forbid. Have mercy on them and on us for the sake of Your Name. Help us and save us so that we may merit to engage in charity for Eretz Yisrael, to strengthen the hands of the needy, the destitute, and the worthy poor who dwell there in Eretz Yisrael always, sending them whatever they lack. Let all our intentions and our engagement in this be solely for the sake of Heaven, without any intention for our own honor at all. Until we merit, through this charity, to create a vessel to receive the flow of Supernal Pleasantness in holiness and purity, so that Your glory may multiply, grow, and be sanctified in the world. Through this, may all the minds of the Diaspora be rectified and transformed into the minds of Eretz Yisrael. May there be great peace in the world, both in Eretz Yisrael and in the Diaspora. May all minds and opinions be able to align together to serve You in truth, with awe and love. Spread over us Your shelter of peace, and bring us up quickly in joy to our Land. There we will sing, rejoice, and play melodies before You all the days of our lives. We will magnify, praise, and glorify You always with praises and songs, and with the songs of David Your servant, the sweet singer of Israel. We will magnify and sanctify Your Name and Your glory always. May the verse be fulfilled: "May the glory of Hashem endure forever; may Hashem rejoice in His works." May we always merit to feel the pleasantness and sweetness in the words of Your holy Torah, "which are more desirable than gold, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb." And it is said: "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." And it is said: "Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasantries forever. Blessed is Hashem God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed is His glorious Name forever; may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen."
446
Master of the universe, full of mercy: You know the standing and situation of Israel at this time, at the end of this bitter exile, as the time of our end draws near. You wait every day, at every time and moment, for our righteous Redeemer to come. The souls of Your people, the House of Israel, yearn, desire, and long for You and for Your service with a soul-consuming longing the likes of which has never existed. But the Ba'al Davar (the Accuser/Evil Inclination) has laid himself out in length and breadth, confusing the world very, very much. He has introduced great dispute into the world, and a great accusation has been created among Torah scholars. Many of the violent ones among Your people exalt themselves "to establish a vision, but they stumble." Even among the true Torah scholars, great dispute and confusion have been created, to the point that no one knows where the truth lies. Have mercy on us for the sake of Your Name. Grant us the merit that we have no part in the dispute against the true tzaddikim and upright ones. Shine upon us with Your free kindness and reveal the absolute truth to us, so that we may merit to know who the true tzaddikim and upright ones of this generation are. May we draw close to them, be included in them, and walk in their paths in truth, simplicity, and complete faith, with absolute earnestness, without any of the vain wisdoms that are customary in the world today. May I merit to enter into great joy at all times through simplicity, earnestness, and complete faith in You, in Your holy Torah, and in Your true tzaddikim and God-fearing ones—the good, earnest, and upright of heart, who walk in Your paths in truth.
513
Guard me and rescue me from quarrel and disputes. Be my help so that the dispute does not harm me at all, neither spiritually nor physically. Rather, may I merit to bind myself and be included in the true tzaddikim, who know how to incline toward kindness and to judge everyone favorably—even those who dispute them. They draw down love and peace into the world, sweeten all types of dispute, and turn dispute into Shalom Bayis (domestic peace). From them, they build wondrous and awesome houses, until 310 worlds are built from them. Help us so that we may merit to walk in the paths of these tzaddikim, to bind ourselves to them and be included in them, until we too merit 310 worlds through them.
526
May it be Your will, Hashem our God and God of our fathers, that You nullify wars and bloodshed from the world, and draw down great and wondrous peace into the world. "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore." Rather, let all the inhabitants of the earth recognize and know the absolute truth: that we did not come into this world for quarrel and dispute, Heaven forbid, nor for hatred, jealousy, provocation, and bloodshed, Heaven forbid. Rather, we came into the world in order to recognize and know You, may You be blessed for eternity.
