Rabbi Berland shlit"a Promises Healing for a Man Whose Brain Became Like a Sponge — Against All Odds

"My brother went in for abdominal surgery that was supposed to last about two hours. However, only after eight hours did the doctors come out and say that the surgery was complex and my brother wasn't waking up. It turned out he had suffered a stroke and a blood clot had entered his brain. We took my brother's medical records and sent them for a second opinion to very senior doctors. They all said his brain was like a sponge and he wouldn't survive the surgery he underwent. If he were to stay alive at all, it would only be as a 'vegetable' (in a persistent vegetative state)."
"We went to various Rabbis. 'The X-Ray' Rabbi (Rabbi Ifergan) said he saw no chance and we should only pray. Rabbi Abuhatzeira from Nahariya also said we should pray and perhaps things would be good. The only one who gave us hope was Yossi Shore, the Mohel (ritual circumciser) of Shuvu Banim. He went to the Rav, the holy Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), who gave me a note to place under my brother's pillow."
"At the end of the note it was written, 'He will yet walk, stand, and speak.' We prayed and hoped for the best. Rabbi Berland shlit"a is the only one who believed and gave a blessing, and today my brother Lior speaks; he can say yes and no. He manages to stand on his feet with crutches, and he walks with small steps. Although he is in a wheelchair most of the time with all the equipment he needs, he stands and walks, he speaks a few words, and he remembers."
"On this occasion, I want to thank Yosef Shore for helping and being the messenger to Rabbi Berland. To Yosefa Lavi, the wife of my brother, Lior Lavi, who believed in him and supported him, staying with him 24 hours a day and still remaining by his side. I bless all of the People of Israel that there should be such loving couples."
"Of course, I thank the honorable Rabbi Berland shlit"a who believed and sent his blessing, and indeed it happened just as he said. Just so you understand, my brother received his driver's license back and he is driving!"
