Rabbi Moshe Tzanani shlit"a | "The Tzaddik Can Give a Person Everything in One Lifetime" - Parshat Chayei Sarah

A talk of strengthening and wonderful knowledge of emunah (faith) delivered by Rabbi Moshe Tzanani shlit"a to the Shuvu Banim community in Miami.

The lesson by Rabbi Moshe Tzanani shlit"a was delivered via Zoom to the Shuvu Banim community in Miami.

"And the life of Sarah was one hundred years and twenty years and seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. The vitality of a person is the light of the tefillin. If one puts on tefillin every morning, they receive vitality from it, for we are born with a natural mind, like a computer, very developed, but the true mind is received every morning when a person puts on tefillin. Therefore, it is not appropriate to pray the morning prayer without tefillin; it is not a prayer at all."

"What is vitality? Our Rebbe says there are many types of life; even non-Jews and animals live, but true vitality is when a person feels closeness to Hashem every day, a person merits love of Hashem, yearning, thoughts of regret and teshuvah (repentance), humility, lowliness - that is vitality. A person also merits every day to draw closer to Hashem."

"What Hashem orchestrates in the world every day so that one more person and another will draw near, the garments one wears in the morning are not the same in the evening."

"What are garments? It means that all the worlds change, every day is a new day that has never been since the creation of the world, every day Hashem sends hints on how to draw closer to Him."

"How close Hashem is to us, how He is with us at every moment. When Yosef revealed himself to his brothers, they were frightened of him. In the future, Hashem will reveal Himself and say, 'I am Hashem,' how will a person be frightened? They will see how close Hashem was to them, where was I all the time?"

"Just as our holy Rebbe was in Hitbodedut every moment, every moment was filled with yearning for Hashem. Sarah our mother, with all the holy forefathers, no moment was wasted. Yaakov Avinu never spoke idle words, once he spoke a word and Hashem already rebuked him, 'Why did you harm me?'"

"Yaakov said: 'My way is hidden from Hashem, why did you harm me..,' the holy forefathers were full of yearning for Hashem and therefore they merited, Avraham was a chariot for supreme kindness, and Yaakov for fear and might, and Yaakov for small countenance.., Sarah was always renewing herself."

"A person from day to day must see how they renew themselves, how they merit the light of that day, every day a new light descends and one must see how to receive the light of that day, the main thing is the holy words, speech is the gate to enter the lights, the intellect, it is the sea into which all rivers flow - it is the speech with which a person merits to cleave to Hashem and it gives them vitality at every moment.., to overcome everything that passes through desires and yearnings, every day to yearn for Hashem, to awaken the desire especially before the coming of the Mashiach.., there was always a light descending but it was exploited for nonsense, desires, ideologies."

"The Ramchal writes that before the coming of the Mashiach there will be a spiritual darkness that has never been.., from the destruction of the Holy Temple Hashem peeks through the cracks, and the light is closing until at the coming of the Mashiach the door will be closed for a very short time, and then a tremendous light will descend upon the people of Israel."

"And this is the time when a person strengthens themselves when there is not much feeling, and not much light and vitality, and yet they do not abandon Hashem, for the glory of Hashem fills the whole earth and even if there is darkness Hashem is there, a person must see how to pierce this darkness. With everything that passes over them, they continue to seek Hashem, and then He will reveal Himself to them doubly."

"One must know that in this generation they boast in heaven about everyone. A person thinks to themselves, what am I barely moving, such desires pass over me, but everything is according to the reality in which the person finds themselves.., in heaven they see all the obstacles that pass over the person.., there is a hall in heaven where Hashem's eyes are, where the angels see everything that happens here.., they also see all the obstacles."

"They see what evil inclination overcomes them, and on the other hand their yearnings.., our generation is in such darkness, one must believe that they do not give us obstacles that cannot be overcome.., a person must strengthen themselves with the knowledge that Hashem is with them, and turn everything that passes over them into words to Hashem, into desires and yearnings, for every descent is for the sake of ascent."

"Every descent gives us new desires, for the father cares for all his children, and for the struggling children, he has special care. Our Rebbe writes that those below, when they ascend, they raise everyone with them.., when a person's neshamah (soul) is bitter, they can pierce the heavens with warm words that come out of them - just do not despair."

"Sometimes from above they intentionally put a person in such situations, so that they will receive yearnings they never had before.., a person cannot know anything, sometimes in ascent a person has much pride, it turns out that the descent is actually an ascent, on the contrary, now they want you most in heaven, strengthen yourself in your work now."

"A person must strengthen themselves and know that Hashem is with me, Hashem is here. Our Rebbe writes that Hashem desires to dwell with a person, only He wants true words from a true heart. Hashem is close to all who call upon Him.., when a person speaks true words Hashem dwells within them."

"There is a level where a person merits to be a precious stone, true words that Hashem clothes in them. And there is a level of a dream where the tzaddik shines in them, there is a neshamah that shines in them. In any case, through true words, they merit to receive light."

"One must know that we are a moon that has nothing of its own, we must remember all our lives that we are the vessel, the moon, and I need the tzaddik to shine in me. The tzaddik illuminates in a person the light of emunah (faith), that Hashem is with them. Without the tzaddik there is no light, the person is without a heart."

"Thanks to his immense work, the tzaddik merited to work on his body, there is no scent of this world in him, Rabbi Natan writes that he merited the skin of the tefillin. The skin of the tefillin is the name of Hashem, the light of the tzaddik. A person feels that there is Hashem in the world, merits to yearnings, the neshamah feels this light, yearnings for Hashem, for Torah, for prayer."

"One must know that in heaven it is the highest it can be. Our Rebbe said: Who can say they can serve Hashem, but the main thing is the desire. Elijah the Prophet revealed to Rashbi and told him the virtue of desire and yearnings, that the garments of the upper Gan Eden are of desire and yearnings, these are the garments of the neshamah, whose place is in the upper Gan Eden."

"The nefesh and ruach in the lower Gan Eden, the neshamah initially in the lower Gan Eden and then ascends to the upper. The garments of the nefesh are the mitzvot, the garments of the ruach are the words of Torah, the garments of the neshamah are the yearnings. Therefore, our Rebbe merited his tremendous virtues, he never stopped yearning. Our Rebbe was all fire, but so are we, because a person who is close to the tzaddik, the tzaddik impregnates them and illuminates in them desire and yearnings - this is the gift the tzaddik gives to a person."

"A person asks, what do I receive from closeness to the tzaddik? They think that slowly they become more holy, wiser, but they receive a gift that a person who is not close to the tzaddik does not receive - yearnings, because yearnings are very precious. As our Rebbe said, you see two people who look the same, but they are two completely different people, a person who is close to the tzaddik is something entirely different, you receive an impregnation of the tzaddik who illuminates your heart to Hashem, the tzaddik has the light of fear and love, this is called Y-H-V-H. V-H is the Torah and prayer, Y-H is the fear and love which are the yearnings."

"Yearnings are precious beyond precious. One must not give up on them even if they are worn out from the transitions of life, one must not cool down, because with the tzaddik one can merit all the levels. As our Rebbe said: A person with their feet to the door knows that if they had fulfilled the words of the tzaddik and were connected to the tzaddik there is nothing they would not have reached."

"The tzaddik guarantees a person that they will reach everything they need, one cannot estimate such a thing, even a neshamah that has completely not blemished needs to go through 5 reincarnations to receive all the nefesh, ruach, and neshamah, but when a person is connected to the tzaddik, the tzaddik can complete all their rectification in one time, atone for everything, cleanse them from everything, and merit them their entire rectification to the end - this is on the condition that they do not cool down."

"A person, due to everything that passes over them, cools down, one must know that all the transitions are rectifications, the tzaddik also plans the rectifications so that you can merit everything you need to merit."

"In truth, a person must go through many clarifications, as our Rebbe said that Hashem loves a fried chassid, a person rectifies reincarnations and receives parts of the neshamah that they lack. The tzaddik wants to merit you more so that you merit your entire rectification in completeness, and it is not simple, many clarifications must be passed. Especially before the redemption, it is done in a huge amount, what a person would go through in 70 years today they go through in one day."

"All the thoughts we have blemished come to be rectified, and one must strengthen themselves and continue to learn Torah, to pray, to serve Hashem, this is how we destroy all the shells we have created, you gather all the sparks you have dropped into the shells. They do not want to send a person to all corners of the world, and pass them through all kinds of rectifications, so they give them a thought and everything is so that you do all the necessary clarifications for you."

"A person must strengthen themselves in kedushah (holiness), because the matter of the tzaddik is to transmit the light of Hashem, he merited to be the conduit that transmits the light of Hashem, a chariot for the foundation."

"The tzaddik merited this thanks to his kedushah, because all the attributes are important, but when the evil inclination offered our Rebbe everything, only that in guarding the covenant he would be like an ordinary person - our Rebbe said he gives up everything, only to merit guarding the covenant. And he merited to come out of it completely and then rectified all the other attributes easily."

"Kedushah is a tremendous battle, and therefore today the evil inclination intensifies in this matter more than anything - the flood that was hinted at the spiritual state today."
