'Renewal' is the Most Important Thing Today
Rabbi Moshe Tzanani on the Torah Monthly

The esteemed Rabbi Moshe Tzanani shlit"a, in a special conversation with the staff of 'Hitchadshut', speaks about the great importance of the Torah monthly - 'Hitchadshut'.
"Today, the greatest form of publicity is this 'Hitchadshut' booklet. There is nothing else; there is also the book 'Lehavot Esh' (Flames of Fire), but how many people buy and read it? Usually, once a person has received the poison of the media, it is over, and today everyone is poisoned. Today, the media is only 'Hitchadshut'; we must know that the 'Hitchadshut' booklet is necessary."
"It must reach every home, just as our teacher Rav Berland writes about the prayers reaching every home, and there will be a sweetening of judgments and Geulah through this thing; it will stand against all the harsh judgments. Who today will read the Rav's prayers after hearing all the media? But, the moment he reads about the tzaddik, words about the tzaddik, deeds of the tzaddik, stories about the tzaddik, then he gets the desire to also read the prayers, to read the book 'Lehavot Esh'."
"We must prepare to reach all of Am Yisrael. This is the only thing we have; we have nothing else, we are blocked in the media. 'Hitchadshut' is the only media that they cannot block us in. We must reach all the homes; this cannot be blocked. 'Hitchadshut' is the media to know about the tzaddik, to know about Rav Berland; no one knows about the Rav, no one knows about the Rav."
"And just as we know how much we ourselves yearn, the students of the Rav, to receive another story and word from the Rav, imagine those on the outside—there, they have no word or story from the Rav. What they have is only, Hashem have mercy, all the talk of the 'media' (teshkorat), all the lies they are fed."
"There are innocent people who read a few stories about the Rav and immediately change. There are endless such stories, people who only heard a little bit from the Rav and already changed completely. 'Hitchadshut' today is the only media we have; there is nothing else, Hashem save us, today, against the volcano surrounding us. What can we do? This is the situation today, such a flood, but what we can do, we must do; the truth enters into the hearts of the people. No matter how much they are fed, it is enough that they read, as everyone knows—all those who returned in teshuvah (repentance), from one word they heard, they got up and threw everything away. From a true word, the soul feels that it is a true word."
"It is enough to see the light of the Rav, the face of the Rav, that is enough; their entire way of thinking already changes. I think that the 'Hitchadshut' booklet is the greatest use of the tzaddik today. To publicize the name of the tzaddik, that is the purpose of this booklet; there is nothing else, nothing. I think that whoever engages in this today, it is the highest thing that can be. This is the service of the tzaddik, and the service of tzaddikim is the highest thing."
"Today, how will you serve the Rav, what will you do for the Rav? Saying the 7 Tikkun HaKlali is important, but 'Hitchadshut' is the greatest thing that can be; it is today the only media we have, the only answer to all the flood that exists. Fortunate is he who engages in this matter."
"Whoever engages in all the signing up of subscribers, there is nothing greater than this, truly, not only because there is a campaign here that I came to talk about—there is nothing greater than this matter, to publicize the name of Rav Berland!"
"Fortunate are you."
Question to Rabbi Tzanani from the 'Hitchadshut' staff: "What do I say to someone who claims they have no money for a standing order subscription?"
Rabbi Tzanani: "How much money are we talking about?"
"Twenty shekels!"
Rabbi Tzanani: "20 shekels is nothing! The subscription to distribute 'Hitchadshut' is a pidyon (redemption). The twenty shekels is a pidyon in the most literal sense."
'Hitchadshut' staff member: "One of the avreichim asked me if it is possible to do this from ma'aser (tithe) money?"
Rabbi Tzanani: "Without a doubt!"
"Even if he takes it for himself?"
"Yes, it is a greater pidyon than anything!"
