At a time when many were afraid to travel to the holy Kibbutz in Uman for Rosh Hashanah, The Rav, the holy Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, never stopped speaking about everyone’s obligation to travel to Uman.

Half a year before Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Berland shlit"a began sharing words of Torah about the importance of traveling to Uman, while singing for hours together with the community the songs of the holy Kibbutz. And indeed, without exception, all of his students, supporters, and those who listened to his teachings arrived with great self-sacrifice in the holy city of Uman, the place of the resting place of Rebbe Nachman.

Everyone arrived at the holy site of Uman and immediately began the sacred avodah of the days before Rosh Hashanah, waiting for their Rav, Rabbi Berland shlit"a—but with great sorrow they were informed that he would not be coming.

Reports then began appearing in the media claiming that those who oppose and persecute Rabbi Berland shlit"a committed a disgraceful act that should never be done, and paid a large bribe to the Ukrainian authorities in order to forbid Rabbi Berland shlit"a from entering. Their intention was to stop the holy Kibbutz around our teacher, the holy Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a—but their plot did not succeed.

As soon as this became known, dozens of Rabbi Berland shlit"a’s students traveled with great self-sacrifice to Romania, where the Rav was staying. There they properly fulfilled all the prayers and mitzvos of the day around Rabbi Berland shlit"a, with great light and holy fire.

At the conclusion of the festival days, The Rav shlit"a said that they had accomplished all the tikkunim there and brought them through for everyone.
