"Heal me, Hashem, and I shall be healed"

As is known, our teacher, the holy Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days), was evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem. This hospitalization comes after the Rav was hospitalized about a month ago, on the Motzaei Shabbos (Saturday night) of Parshas Bechukosai 5779, in a difficult condition, at which time he underwent a cardiac catheterization and various other treatments.

This past Tuesday, during the week of Parshas Shelach 5779, our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a was rushed to the hospital due to the dehydration of his single kidney. It was not difficult to notice the extent to which the Rav shlit"a has been practicing mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice) to merit the public since his previous hospitalization. The Rav did not feel well, yet he still exerted himself to pray with the tzibbur (congregation), receive the public, conduct home gatherings, and give shiurim (Torah lessons)—all with an awe-inspiring level of mesirus nefesh (self-sacrifice).

Over the past week, the condition of our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a deteriorated; he felt great weakness and was hospitalized to stabilize the condition of his kidney. For this purpose, our teacher the Rav underwent a series of difficult treatments.

It was reported from the Rav's home that his condition has begun to improve slightly, but we still need to increase our prayers and supplications for the healing of the Tzaddik, which is the very success of Israel. Therefore, our teacher issued a holy call in his own sacred and pained voice to come and participate in a mass prayer gathering at the Kotel HaMa'aravi (the Western Wall).

The announcement spread quickly, and many arrived from all corners of the country to the Kotel HaMa'aravi (the Western Wall). The prayer gathering, which began at 4:30 PM, concluded at 9:30 PM, after they recited the entire book of Tehillim (Psalms) together, accepted the yoke of the Kingdom of Heaven, recited the Tikkun HaKlali (the General Rectification) three times, and prayed the Mincha (afternoon) prayer with the congregation.

May it be His will that we hear and be informed of good news.
