Strong: A Vizhnitz Chassid from Bnei Brak Shares What the Controversy Over Rav Berland shlit"a Did to Him - Parshat Korach - The Hypocrisy of the Media

Parshat Korach tells of the severe controversy of Korach and his assembly against Moshe Rabbeinu. According to the great chassidic leaders, this controversy has reappeared in almost every generation since then until today. Unfortunately, even in our generation, the fire of controversy returns and destroys all that is good, and primarily stands against the true tzaddik of the generation. The story took place, indeed, during Parshat Korach 5778, but we feel compelled to remind a bit of the malicious controversy against our esteemed teacher, the honorable Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a. After all, the entire controversy is driven by certain self-interested rabbis from Breslov, who have been hostile to Rav Berland shlit"a for decades. These "rabbis" opposed the Rav shlit"a without any halachic examination as required by law.

What truly infuriates in this terrible story is that the websites knew how to jump on the bandwagon as if finding great spoils and published lies with a loud noise. Yet now, when it has been widely publicized that there is a Beit Din with a broad consensus of all major Charedi courts, and with the endorsement of many neutral rabbis, those websites deliberately refrain from publishing the current letter.

The incident reminded me of the recent famous case where an insolent woman attacked a Jew who was helping many by putting on tefillin, insulted him, and yelled at him, but behold, since then, more people have been strengthened in putting on tefillin. So too with Rav Berland shlit"a, before I was exposed to the slander of Rav Berland's pursuers, I didn't know him at all, and suddenly I said to myself, let's look into what all the noise is about."
