Sweetening the Birth Pangs of Mashiach - Rabbi Yeshayahu Pinto shlit"a

Holy words recently delivered by the Admor Rabbi Yeshayahu Pinto shlit"a. This is the language of his holiness.

We are in the week when the son of David comes, closer than ever to the coming of the Mashiach. And anyone whose spiritual senses are sharp can truly feel and smell the redeemer who is closer than ever.

It is known that before the redemption, there must again be a concept of the opening of the womb, for the birth of the neshamah (soul) of Mashiach. Seemingly, this should be through the bite of a snake, which causes bloodshed, God forbid, before the redemption, which is the danger of the birth pangs of Mashiach, bloodshed before the redemption.

However, through the tzaddikim who study Torah primarily at night, and engage in the service of Hashem and holy unifications, all this is preparation to awaken the unification of the dawn, which is the unification of the splitting of the Sea of Reeds that will happen again in the future. Everything that happened in Egypt, in the Exodus from Egypt, and in the splitting of the Sea of Reeds, will give strength to the redemption that will be greater and more immense than the Exodus from Egypt.

And through the study of the night and the service of Hashem at night, the birth pangs of Mashiach of war are sweetened before the redemption. This is the secret brought in the holy Zohar, Parshat Pinchas (Numbers 249b), that there is in the desert a certain deer, after it becomes pregnant. And when it reaches the time of its birth, Hashem sends it a snake that bites it on its womb, and thus the womb expands, and it gives birth easily.

It is known the story of our holy master, the Ari zt"l, when he studied with his students and with his disciple, our master Rabbi Chaim Vital zt"l, and they reached this Zohar, our master the Ari zt"l said to them, here I cannot reveal secrets, because there is great danger in the matter.

Rabbi Chaim Vital pressed him to reveal this secret to them. Our master the Ari could not refuse our master Rabbi Chaim Vital and revealed to them the secret of the deer with the snake. When our master the Ari zt"l finished teaching them the secret, they came and informed him that his son was sick with a high fever. Our master the Ari and Rabbi Chaim Vital went and found the child with a high fever, and thus after seven days, the son of our master the Ari zt"l passed away.

The students were distressed, but our master the Ari continued to teach them the secrets of the Torah. Time passed, and again they reached a secret of the Torah, and again our master the Ari did not want to reveal it to them, and again our master Rabbi Chaim Vital pressed, and our master the Ari consented and revealed to them the secret. When he finished, the students saw that the face of the holy Ari was worried.

He told them that a decree had been issued against him, for revealing the secret to them. After the rectifications they did, he asked them to go outside the city and study Torah there. And if, God forbid, there would be a dispute or argument among the students, he, our master the Ari, would not complete his year. And so all week the students were with our master the Ari, and on Shabbat the women and children would join.

And so after five months, the women quarreled among themselves. They told their husbands, and there was an argument among the students. On that Shabbat, our master the Ari said that a decree had been issued against him, and that week he passed from the world. The great light, our master the holy Ari zt"l.

Behold, the matter of "As the deer pants for streams of water," is a great secret. And if the birth is sweetened and the snake's bite is avoided through Torah and mitzvot and cleaving to Hashem at night, Tikkun Chatzot, Tikkun Karet, we merit to be redeemed with an eternal redemption not through the birth pangs of Mashiach, nor through wars and bloodshed.

This power is in our hands, to awaken the dawn with the light of the Torah. Therefore, a person should know that the Torah studied at night has immense power and sweetens the exile and brings about the redemption of our souls.

Yeshayahu Yosef.
