The Ceremony of Distributing Chumashim (Pentateuchs) to the Tashbar (school-aged) Children at the Home of the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

For many years, the children of the holy Shuvu Banim community waited for the return of our teacher and Rebbe, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days). We accompanied the Rav shlit"a throughout all his long years of exile; we anticipated and yearned for his return, and now the great moment has arrived.

In orderly rows and with hearts pounding with anticipation, the Tashbar (school-aged) students of 'Nechamat Zion' marched to the holy residence of our teacher, Rabbi Berland shlit"a. There, they sat on chairs arranged around the holy table and with uplifted eyes, they gazed toward the holiness, as the Chumashim (Pentateuchs) were arranged before them as if waiting.

The crown of the Torah was placed upon their heads, while before them they saw a living testimony of how a true Ben Torah (Torah scholar) should appear.

With holy awe, the young ones of the flock step toward the Tzaddik to receive the books of the Torah. What a wonderful merit has fallen to their lot—it was like the standing at the Giving of the Torah at Sinai.
