The Esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a at a Lesson with Dr. Itamar Raz in
Musrara

His Eminence, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a arrived this past Motzaei Shabbat at the home of Dr. Itamar Raz in Musrara. In addition to the many students who arrived to hear the shiur of the Rav shlit"a, the newlywed groom Ephraim Geltman also arrived at the location. These are the words of Rav Berland shlit"a.
"They drew a spirit of life from the ancient one (the Rav is speaking about the new groom and bride), he is Elijah the Prophet, and Miriam his wife (the bride) is Miriam the Prophetess. Elijah the Prophet guided Miriam and told her not to be afraid, and then she turned into stones and walls; she turned into tables and chairs. Then Pharaoh wanted to kill her; he said, 'Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive' (Exodus 1:22). At first, Pharaoh only said to strangle them; when they were born, they would say they strangled at birth. Pharaoh saw that this did not help, that they were only deceiving and lying to him, so he said, from now on, 'Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river.'"
"Amram learned from here that one must divorce, but the best thing is without divorcing; you are married, aren't you?" the Rav asked those present. "Amram went to the Beit Din and said that now he had no choice and he must divorce, and then all of the People of Israel divorced. The women said that now they would offer prayers about this, and indeed for nine months they prayed. Then the women ran to the field to their husbands."
