The Esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a Serves as Sandek at the Bris in the
Shul for the Grandson of Rabbi Frank zt"l

Yesterday, Thursday, Parashat Ki Tavo 5778, August 30, 2018, the holy Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a arrived at a Brit Milah at the Breslov shul in Meah Shearim. Rav Berland shlit"a walked on foot after prayer in his Beit Midrash to the shul, where he served as Sandak at the Brit of the grandson of Rabbi Frank zt"l, one of the prominent figures of Jerusalem and the tzaddikim of Breslov.
The holy words of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a: "There is a tremendous question: why is the entire ceremony of the blessing and the curse not written in Parashat Re'eh, but only in Ki Tavo? 'Are they not beyond the Jordan' is the third sign, 'behind the way of the sunset' is the fourth sign, 'in the land of the Canaanite' is the fifth sign, 'opposite Gilgal' is the sixth sign, 'beside the terebinths of Moreh' is the seventh sign. There are seven signs, and yet it is not known where it is. And regarding the Holy Temple, it is written 'in the place which He shall choose' (Deuteronomy 12:14); why is it not written where?"
"The Rambam offers two explanations. The first is that if people had known where it was, they would have performed all the idolatry in the world there beforehand; therefore, it is written only 'in the place which He shall choose.' And another explanation: that no one would have agreed to give up Jerusalem, and it would have been impossible to divide the land, because no one is willing to give up Jerusalem."
These are the holy words of the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, as edited from the Shevei Or newsletter.
