The Redemption is in the Merit of the Righteous Women Not Sinning

THE DAILY SHIUR OF RABBI ELIEZER BERLAND SHLIT”A – THE REDEMPTION IS IN THE MERIT OF THE DAUGHTERS OF TZELAFCHAD

TUESDAY 13 TAMMUZ 5782, AFTER MA’ARIV

The parasha [this shiur was given over during parashat Pinchas] discusses the daughters of Tzelafchad – five daughters: Machla, Chagla, Noa, Milka, Tirtza.

Tirtza, who only wants [rotza] Hashem.  Milka, who rules over [molekhet] all organs.  Noa, who is always in movement [tenua].  Even though Noa was last in order, she was listed second…

The whole redemption is in the merit of the daughters of Tzelafchad, who said, “Give us a portion.”  They didn’t concede to Moshe!  They went before Moshe, the elders, and Aharon HaKohen.  It’s not understood – it’s written Moshe, and after that Aharon, and then the elders – the opposite!  First the elders, after that Aharon, and after that Moshe.  Rather, everything is in the merit of the daughters of Tzelafchad.

Therefore, Rashi says that no woman sinned in any of the sins – not in the sin of the golden calf, not in the sin of the spies.  “There was no man...”  Therefore, the men sinned and died.  The women tore their [own] ears off [in the sin of the calf], took their earings with their ears [so that they couldn’t be used to make the calf].

Therefore, it’s forbidden for a woman to leave her house on Rosh Chodesh.  [The woman] received Rosh Chodesh.  They received 12 Rosh Chodesh only to say Tehilim.  Rosh Chodesh is only for saying Tehilim and it’s forbidden to leave the house – only for something urgent.

Therefore, in the merit of not sinning, the whole redemption is in the merit of righteous women.  But they remained widows, because they didn’t object to their husbands, didn’t go against their husbands.  Because when the husband disputes the tzaddik, she needs to go against him like the wife of On ben Pelet, who didn’t allow him to leave the house.  She said, “You’re disputing the tzaddik – drink wine!  Tokay wine – Hungarian wine.”  Everyone needs to drink Hungarian wine this night [Rabbeinu said, “I am Hungarian wine”], and bezrat Hashem, in the merit of the faith in the tzaddik, we shall merit to a complete redemption, speedily in our days, Amen.
