The Secret of Emunah Above Nature: From Hashem's Providence in the World to the Secret of Rachel and Leah

An article illustrating how Hashem's Divine Providence operates above all systems of nature, technology, and medicine, ranging from the elections in the United States to a miraculous healing without X-rays. In its second part, the article delves into the Kabbalistic secrets regarding the connection and peace between Rachel and Leah, and the secret of the lights of the word 'V'Ahavta' (and you shall love).

The whole world was in an uproar over the elections in America. In Florida, they counted the votes manually, and every count yielded a different number. The most advanced country in the world, with the most sophisticated machines, stood helpless in the face of fifty thousand votes that did not pass through the machine and were disqualified. They say that Hashem, may He be blessed, can overturn all of America and all of their advancements in a single moment. Everything is solely in the hands of Heaven.

Medicine Above Nature

I also saw the illusion of the power of nature and technology firsthand in medical matters. The doctors took the most sophisticated X-rays for me, down to a thousandth of a millimeter, and said that I must undergo surgery. They suggested cortisone injections that paralyze the area for two months, and warned that if there is a heart problem, it could paralyze that as well. I had no choice and received an injection, until Gittel Goldblum arrived and demanded that we travel to a specialist doctor in the United States.

We boarded the plane, and suddenly it became clear that we had forgotten all the X-rays in Israel. I asked: 'How will he know what is wrong with me without X-rays? Does he have X-ray vision? Does he do hocus pocus?'. We arrived at his clinic. It turned out that this was a ninety-one-year-old Jew, the grandson of Yehoshua Mandelbaum and the son of Aharon Teitelbaum, who had specialized in bone healing since the age of ten.

He just told me to lift my shirt, made one small 'tick', and said: 'Go home, everything is fine. It hurts a little bit now, but everything has returned to its place'. All the professors in the Land of Israel and in Manhattan did not succeed, and in the end, a simple Jew comes and fixes everything in a thousandth of a second. People constantly talk and think they know everything, but neither the officers, nor the doctors, nor the experts know anything about their lives – everything is only emunah (faith).

The Power of Emunah at Kever Rachel

We also saw the power of simple emunah at Kever Rachel (Rachel's Tomb). A group of fifty of us arrived there, walking in the dead of night through the courtyards of the Arabs. The soldiers standing at the checkpoints were afraid to run there. One soldier asked me in astonishment: 'How did you get here?'. I told him: 'We came here to pray'.

He stood there with a weapon, trembling all over, and we were walking without fear. He said to me: 'I see that justice is with you. I am here with a weapon, trembling that I will be shot at any moment, and you are walking at night with nothing, only with emunah. Now I am beginning to believe'.

At that time, there were also severe frictions with the soldiers around the entrance to Kever Rachel, and even a soldier who was injured by a traffic sign thrown at him. I met with the brigade commander and promised him first of all: no more hitting soldiers. Not in Hebron and not at Kever Rachel. They are also Jews, they will also do teshuvah (repentance) one day. We reached an agreement that we would stop the violence towards them, and continue forward only with the power of emunah and prayer.

The Secret of Rachel and Leah

From here we arrive at the secret of Rachel and Leah, and the secret of the 'coins of kindness' that shine like stars. When there is a descent of the Gevuros (severities) above in the Yesod (foundation) of Zeir Anpin (the Divine configuration of emotional attributes), the Mochin (intellectual lights) scatter and become sparks. Leah emerges from the aspect of the Malchus (kingship) of Tevunah (understanding) (which is called 'Vilon' - curtain), and her primary place is in the Daas (knowledge) of Zeir Anpin. The level of her Kesser (crown) reaches until the end of the feet of Zeir Anpin.

In contrast, the Kesser of Rachel begins exactly where the feet of Leah end. Regarding this, the Sages bring down the deep secret:

"What Chochmah (wisdom) made a crown for its head, Anavah (humility) made a heel for its shoe."

The feet of Leah, which are the aspect of humility, become a crown and diadem for Rachel, who is the aspect of awe. So that there would be no jealousy between the two sisters, Rachel and Leah, the Supreme Emanator made an exact division in the Tiferes (beauty/harmony) of Zeir Anpin. The upper third belongs entirely to Leah, the lower third belongs entirely to Rachel, and the middle third is divided equally between the two of them.

The feet of Leah clothe themselves within the Kesser of Rachel, and thus they both serve together in love and peace without any jealousy. Therefore, the word 'V'Ahavta' (and you shall love) has the numerical value (gematria) of 414, which is exactly twice the word 'Ohr' (light - 207). Rachel has two lights corresponding to the numerical value of 'V'Ahavta', which illuminate the secret of unity, peace, and complete emunah.
