The Story of the Dancing at the Western Wall and the Supernatural Strength on Simchat Torah
A wondrous story from Simchat Torah: Despite the pain in his legs, the Rav shlit"a marched to the Western Wall with thousands of people and danced for a long hour with supernatural strength. It is impossible to describe or estimate even a fraction of a fraction of what Hashem merited us to experience in the presence of the Tzaddik during the past 'Yerach HaEitanim' (the month of Tishrei), and specifically on Simchat Torah. Whoever did not see this with their own eyes—and even those who were present and participated—we have no concept of the revelation of Godliness that took place here. We saw clearly how Hashem suddenly illuminated the world with a new light upon Zion. We saw the holy and simple faith literally eye-to-eye, coming to know and reveal that He is King over all the earth and there is nothing else beside Him. We understand that other than Him, the holy Torah, and the Tzaddikim—everything is vanity and a striving after wind, a false illusion, "like a fleeting dream and a passing breeze." Like a King in His Troop This scene of awesome majesty was clearly visible on the night of Simchat Torah, when the Rav shlit"a went out for Hakafot (circuit dances) toward the Western Wall, accompanied by a massive crowd of approximately four thousand people. The Tzaddik walked "like a king among his troops," transcending human strength. Anyone aware of the condition of the Rav's legs, which are full of pain and suffering, knows that he can barely stand on them. However, when the moment arrives to act for the honor of Hashem's Name—there is no body and no nature. The Tzaddik marches with his face burning like torches, and the entire nation leaps and dances in honor of Hashem and the holy Torah, fulfilling the verse: "For out of Zion shall go forth Torah, and the word of Hashem from Jerusalem." Rising Like a Lion When they arrived at the Western Wall, The Rav shlit"a sat down for a short time, as he was certainly in a state of total exhaustion after the strenuous walk. But suddenly, the Rav overcame his physical state with renewed strength, and "rose up like a lion." He began to dance with the massive crowd and entered inside the tunnel. The entire nation was singing and rejoicing, and the joy pierced the heavens. There, the Rav shlit"a stood on his feet for a long hour with everyone surrounding him. Just by looking at his holy form, the face of an angel of God, immense joy entered everyone's heart. Feet lifted off the ground on their own, and the crowd did not want to stop singing and chanting to the Living and Enduring God. We truly felt a pleasantness, sweetness, friendship, and the delight of closeness to God, which the awesome Tzaddik illuminates for us in this dark and orphaned generation. "And may a new light shine upon Zion, and may we all merit His complete revelation soon, Amen." --- From Issue 80 — Parshat Bereshit From the series "Tzaddik Moshel Yirat Elokim" — Sheets "Shapir Amar Nachmani"
