The Union Ushers Who Organized the Simchas Torah Procession to the Kosel—An Appreciation Gathering at the Home of the Gaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

This past Simchas Torah, everyone was astonished: after several years in which they did not allow The Rav shlit"a to reach the Kosel HaMa’aravi on Simchas Torah and hold the hakafos there, an orderly plan was arranged—together with the Israel Police—to organize the procession to the Kosel and back, passing through the Sha’ar Shechem market all the way to the Third Wall.

And indeed, as was reviewed here at length on Motzaei Simchas Torah, we merited to dance and sweeten endless judgments on the night of Simchas Torah together with The Rav shlit"a at the Kosel. After the hakafos, the procession continued through the Sha’ar Shechem market. This was thanks to about one hundred volunteers from “Ichud Chassidei Breslov,” who were responsible for securing the procession throughout the entire market in the Old City.

As a token of appreciation for those volunteers, they merited to enter “into the holy, within”—for a special shiur from The Rav shlit"a on Tuesday, the 9th of Marcheshvan, in the afternoon. The Rav shlit"a opened the shiur by speaking about what is destined to happen to the nations at the End of Days, as brought in the Haftarah of the first day of Sukkos. He then addressed the matter of Shimi and Chonyo, and the entire account—how it was specifically Chonyo’s righteousness that brought about this destruction.

For most of the shiur, he spoke from the very first line of Mesillas Yesharim: that “a person was created to take delight in Hashem.” And what are those delights? Learning Gemara. He strengthened everyone to learn Rambam every day, to rise early for Shacharis, and to resolve a difficulty in the Rambam—such as the sugya of “tukfo Kohen.” After close to half an hour of words of encouragement, The Rav shlit"a concluded with Kaddish and blessed the volunteers.

Below is documentation from the shiur, within the holy inner room:
