The Words of the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in Bnei Brak - Photo Gallery from a Home Gathering in Bat Yam

The holy words of our teacher, the Gaon and Tzaddik, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, during yesterday's lesson, Monday of Parshas Pinchas 5779 (2019), at a home gathering in Bnei Brak.

"The yichud (holy union) is high, high above high. It is so high, and man is so low, that he is unable to believe how high it is. People are so immersed and dirtied in this ta'avah (lust/desire)."

"The yichud (holy union) is the Ohr Ein Sof (Infinite Light); during the time of union, one cleaves to the Infinite Light. One must remove the ta'avah (lust) from the union; if not, the children are harmed. A woman does not have pigmey brit (blemishes of the covenant), but one can only escape ta'avah (lust) through the study of Gemara (Talmud)."

"A woman has no blemishes; therefore, she is called a neviah (prophetess)."

"A woman can also perform a bris milah (circumcision); during the Sin of the Golden Calf, they tore the earrings from the women's ears."

"The entire purpose of the wedding is to draw down the Ohr Ein Sof (Infinite Light)."

"The main thing is to escape ta'avah (lust); a child born from lust will have problems—it is all because of the tumah (impurity) of the procreation."

"It is impossible to escape ta'avah (lust) except through the study of Gemara (Talmud); people are so immersed in lust that they cannot detach themselves from it."

"It is written about Rabbi Ishmael ben Elisha that he was born from angels."

"The entire work is to nullify ta'avah (lust) from the world."

"If a person says, 'My weight is upon me' (as a vow), he must bring an amount equal to his weight to the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple)."

"They can bring the weight in tar, a person can bring the weight in onions, but the mother of Yarmatia brought her weight in gold."

These words are l'ilui nishmat (for the elevation of the soul) of Rabbi Shmuel ben Sarah zt"l.
