The Yeshiva Student Gavriel Lavi from Shuvu Banim Who Was Critically Stabbed in
the Old City

Following the improvement in the condition of Gabriel Lavi, the 49-year-old avreich from the Breslov 'Shuvu Banim' yeshiva, who was critically wounded in the stabbing attack on Friday at the Damascus Gate, along with the 16-year-old boy Meir Nachumberg, who was attacked near the Damascus Gate and sustained moderate injuries.
Nili, the wife of Gabriel Lavi, shares her feelings and her emotions of gratitude to Hashem.
"Now there is a different meaning when I recite 'that He did not make me a gentile'."
It is important to note that despite the reported improvement, the family members implore the public to continue to pray for the complete healing of Gabriel ben Ines, among the rest of the sick of Israel.
In what way is the improvement in Gabriel's condition manifested? They continued and asked the wife of the wounded man, "In that he is starting to respond. When they lower the dosage of the anesthesia, he starts to move. The knife penetrated his spine, and it is truly a miracle that he is now moving his hands and feet."
From the doctors' perspective, is he still considered to be in life-threatening danger?
"Yes. As long as he is being treated in the intensive care unit - he is in danger."
The interview with Lavi's wife was conducted after it was reported on Saturday night from Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem that there was an improvement in the condition of the avreich Gabriel Lavi yichye. It was also reported then by the hospital that Lavi is still hospitalized in the intensive care unit while sedated and intubated.
In the interview, Nili added and said that she "thanks all of the people of Israel for the prayers and the support. We will continue to walk through the Damascus Gate. We will not let them restrict us. We had a great miracle; the terrorist stabbed him many times in the upper body, in the face and head, and also in the spine."
"My husband, Gabriel, lost a lot of blood and received 6 units of blood; he underwent abdominal surgery. His condition is difficult, but the doctors are optimistic. We are both ba'alei teshuvah (those who have returned to the path of Torah). He studied at the 'Shuvu Banim' yeshiva in the Muslim Quarter. He is a tzaddik, humble, and a man of kindness. My husband returned from the midnight kollel, and I believe that in the merit of his Torah study, we will merit to hold a thanksgiving party for him."
It should be noted that Gabriel Lavi was stabbed 17 times in all parts of his body and was truly in critical condition on the verge of death. The day after our teacher, the holy Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a blessed him, they already announced at the hospital that his condition had begun to improve.
