To Preserve the Sages of Israel Among Us • Update on the Medical Condition of HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

It has been reported from the home of HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days) that for this Shabbat, Parshas Emor, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a will remain in the hospital (beit ha-refuah) following a cardiac procedure he was required to undergo. His grandson and gabbai (attendant), Rabbi Dov Zucker, provides an update on the medical condition of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a.

As recalled, about two weeks ago, the Rav shlit"a was hospitalized in the hospital (beit ha-refuah) due to the drainage of fluid from his lungs, and he even remained there over the Holy Shabbat. As is known, following a growth the Rav shlit"a had about seven years ago, a kidney was removed from the Rav. There is a condition known as 'heart failure' where the heart functions somewhat weakly. The kidney and the heart are interconnected, and as soon as one does not function properly, the other also fails to function correctly. Over the past two weeks, the Rav underwent medication treatment for his lungs. On Wednesday, the Rav traveled to the hospital where an appointment was set for an 'echocardiogram' (echo lev) test. On Thursday, the Rav underwent the examination in consultation with a specialist doctor. On Friday at 11:30 AM, the Rav underwent a medical procedure on his pure heart, and the doctors requested to keep the Rav shlit"a under medical observation; therefore, this coming Holy Shabbat, Parshas Emor, he will not be at his home. We return and remind the public at all times and in every place to increase in prayers and supplications for the complete healing (refuah sheleimah) of our teacher, HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer ben Ettia Berland shlit"a, among the rest of the sick of Israel. Regarding the prayers and classes (shiurim) for next week, updates can be obtained at any time on the information and classes hotline *9148.
