Two Testimonies About the Connection Maran, the Sar HaTorah zy"a Had With Breslov Chassidus

In addition to the connection that the Sar HaTorah, HaGaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky zt"l, had with Rabbi Berland shlit"a, he had a special connection to Breslov Chassidus. Here are two testimonies about the Sar HaTorah’s connection with Breslov Chassidus:

R’ Binyamin Bergstein, son of the mashpia, HaRav HaChassid R’ Shimon Bergstein zt"l, relates:

“I was with him twenty years ago, and he told me: ‘I testify in the name of the Chafetz Chaim: the ban that was placed on the Chassidim by the Gaon was not intended to include Breslov.’ I told him that when I learn Likutey Moharan, I feel that I receive yiras Shamayim. He answered and said: ‘Certainly.’ He even repeated it several times—as if there is simply nothing to discuss when it comes to the greatness of Rebbe Nachman.”

The mayor of Beitar Illit, R’ Meir Rubinstein, may he live a long and good life, relates:

“My friend R’ Avraham Finzel, may he live a long and good life, the director of the Talmud Torah ‘Chochmas Shlomo,’ was seated with me a few months ago at an event in the city of Beitar, and he testified before me that he saw with his own eyes Maran Rabbi Chaim zt"l studying Likutey Moharan time and again.”
