Watch: Nachman Shiner, Student of the Esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland, in an Emotional Song Commemorating the Death of the Holy R' Aharon Benita z"l
"Look down from heaven and see; rejoice, O nations, with His people," sings Nachman Shiner for R' Aharon Benita hy"d, drawing tears from the eyes of the listeners. Nachman Shiner, who was the study partner in Gemara for R' Aharon z"l, gathered all the pain and mourning and transformed them into an emotional melody.
After R' Aharon z"l was murdered in front of his wife and children on Shabbat of Chol Hamoed Sukkot and died a holy death, I was broken, I couldn't stop thinking about him. Slowly, the tune of the song began to take shape within me. "The melody descended from the longing, the pain, and the vision of the End of Days," explains Shiner. "When I played the sketch of the tune to families who lost relatives and to soldiers stationed in Hebron who lost friends in military operations, I didn't see a single dry eye. The soldiers told me: 'Such a tune gives us spiritual strength and elevation, helping us understand the dimension beyond the tragedy and loss,' and they asked me to play it again and again. Yasher Koach, Rabbi Nachman Shiner. May it be Hashem's will that all thoughts of teshuvah (repentance) born from hearing this song will stand in merit for the neshamah (soul) of the holy R' Aharon Benita hy"dSubscribe to Our Newsletter
