As is our holy custom, Rabbi Eliyahu Sukkot shlit"a opened with words of encouragement and stirring melodies before the arrival of Rav Berland shlit"a. With the Rav's entry into the hall, the fervor of the hearts rose higher and higher, as the Rav ascended the stage accompanied by melodies that prepared the hearts for the words of Torah that followed.

"From heaven they fought, the stars from their courses fought against Sisera" (Judges 5). Devorah was fire, Lappidot; she was entirely a torch of fire, and therefore everyone in Devorah did teshuvah (repentance), all of Ashkelon. Ashkelon is 'Esh Kalon' (fire of disgrace), to burn the disgrace, which is 'shavrah libi' (it broke my heart); the blemish of the covenant is the greatest disgrace. Here in Ashkelon, Samson descended and struck '30 innocent, holy, and pure people.' 30 indictments were filed against him; therefore he lives until today.
