History. The Gaon Rabbi Shimon Baadani shlit"a, head of Kollel Torah V'Chaim in Bnei Brak and member of the Council of Torah Sages, arrived at Shuvu Banim Yeshiva (Night of Thursday, 7th of Nissan 5777) of Morinu HaGaon HaTzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a and delivered a special talk. Before the class, Rabbi Berland shlit"a spoke and asked the entire community to come to the class, saying, "After the passing of Rabbi Ovadia Yosef zt"l, Rabbi Baadani is the Gadol HaDor (Leader of the Generation). He will be the Gadol HaDor until Mashiach Tzidkenu comes, and therefore he is from the soul of Mordechai HaTzaddik," continued Morinu Rabbi Berland shlit"a.

"It was not a simple effort for Rabbi Baadani to reach your Yeshiva located inside the Old City," Rabbi Yaakov Ben Nissan was asked by the "Scoops Line".

"True, it was real self-sacrifice (mesirus nefesh) for him, but Rabbi Baadani really insisted on delivering the talk at our Yeshiva," answered Rabbi Ben Nissan. "We suggested to Rabbi Baadani to hold the talk at Ido HaNavi [street], where he wouldn't have to exert himself so much, but as I said, Rabbi Baadani preferred to come to the Yeshiva in the Old City."

"During all those dozens of stairs he climbed on the way to the Yeshiva, with tremendous self-sacrifice and at his advanced age, Rabbi Baadani repeated and emphasized that his desire is to strengthen the Shuvu Banim community. 'After all the persecutions they are going through, it is important for me to come and be with them,' he said repeatedly."

"The Yeshiva hall was filled to capacity with hundreds of avreichim (Torah students) who came for the honor of the Torah, even though the talk was after the regular study session time. The talk began with words of Torah (as can be heard in the video below), where Rabbi Baadani elaborated on the fact that we are currently at the end of the Exile (Galus). 'One can clearly see the persecutions that the Nation of Israel is undergoing,' said Rabbi Baadani, while emphasizing the persecutions that the Shuvu Banim community is undergoing."

"'Strengthen yourselves, everyone, and take upon yourselves good resolutions for the benefit of your Rabbi (Rabbi Berland shlit"a),' Rabbi Baadani repeated in his talk. Then he revealed to all those present, 'Several times, the persecutors of Rabbi Berland came to me and tried to drive me crazy so that I would turn against Rabbi Berland shlit"a, but I answered firmly that I am not willing to accept Lashon Hara (evil speech). You are not acting according to Din Torah (Torah law); this is not the way. Rabbi Berland is a very great man, and there is a proper way to behave and to address claims,' I told them."

"'Know that you should not be confused by anything the persecutors say; all their words are vanity and nonsense. Hold on and strengthen yourselves.' Afterwards, Rabbi Baadani asked the public to recite a few chapters of Psalms with him for the success and salvation of Rabbi Berland, and blessed us that we should merit that the Rav returns quickly to lead the community and make more disciples and baalei teshuvah (returnees to the faith). Finally, Rabbi Baadani made a 'Mi Sheberach' (blessing) for Rabbi Berland shlit"a."

"It is important to note that the entire event was initiated by Rabbi Baadani shlit"a, who turned to an avreich from the community who visited him and told him that he wants to come to Shuvu Banim.
