Why Rejoice at a Wedding - The Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in Kiryat Sefer on Motzei Shabbat Parshat Bo

"There is a contradiction within the Likutey Halachot, the Torah states that it is not proper to rejoice at a wedding, this is heresy against 'Shuvu Banim' who customarily dance until morning. Why do we dance, what are we dancing for? We eat cholent and kugel, why are you happy that you have a wife? Reb Noson says that certainly there is no reason to rejoice over this matter, yet nevertheless, we rejoice and this is a contradiction."

"The main joy of the wedding is that there truly is something to rejoice over, which is a matter completely hidden that precisely from a man and a woman will come the neshamah (soul) of the Mashiach, the neshamah of Rashbi, the neshamah of Moshe Rabbeinu, and whoever fulfills the mitzvah with kedushah (holiness) merits these secrets, until the Mashiach will come precisely from this couple."

"Precisely from Yitzchak and Rivka came the first birth into the world, when the jesters of the generation would say that Rivka was impregnated by Avimelech. They would say that Avraham is like Avimelech, just as Avimelech who is a 'donkey of donkeys', 'With the jawbone of a donkey, I have slain a thousand men' (Judges), so too Avraham is like Avimelech. The jesters of the generation would say, until now we thought Avraham was a nazir, but it turns out he is like Avimelech. However, in truth, Avraham is 'Eiver Ma', he completely nullified the limb and achieved the rectification of the covenant."

Yitzchak and Avraham drew such kedushah (holiness) to all descendants until the end of generations, that from this comes forth a holy seed from which will come the holy neshamah that is truly the Mashiach. We believe that from every holy couple will come forth the holy neshamah that is Mashiach ben David and he will bring the complete redemption speedily in our days, Amen."
