Worshippers of the ‘Mizmor LeTodah’ Synagogue in Tel Tzion Merit to Enter a Shiur in the Home of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

A Shiur for the Residents of ‘Tel Tzion’ in the Home of The Rav Rabbi Berland shlit"a ○ Report and an Excerpt from the Shiur ○ A Special Story about Total Immersion in Torah

The residents of ‘Tel Tzion,’ worshippers at the ‘Breslov – Mizmor LeTodah’ synagogue, merited to enter further inward—into the holy inner place—for a special shiur from The Rav Rabbi Berland shlit"a. The ‘Mizmor LeTodah’ synagogue has the merit that through it, many bnei Torah draw close to the light of Rebbe Nachman, may his holiness protect us. Every Tuesday, the Rosh Yeshivah of ‘Chut Shel Chesed,’ the chassidic Rav Rabbi Shalom Arush shlit"a—one of The Rav’s longtime students—comes to strengthen the vatikin minyan in the synagogue, and afterward delivers a shiur together with a morning meal. At the beginning of the shiur, The Rav shlit"a spoke with fiery passion about the greatness of shalom bayis, and about the importance of saying strengthening words to the wife of the home, who toils and labors to establish a home of Torah. Here are a few fiery, holy words from the shiur: “This time—bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.” Every person needs to tell his wife: You are the one and only woman in the world! There is no one like you in the world. You make the tastiest food; you clean the house. Always find something you can tell her as a good word.It is forbidden to say, ‘My mother is better,’ ‘My sister is better.’ It is forbidden to say, when you clean an entire apartment, ‘My mother cleans a hundred rooms.’ Afterward, The Rav Rabbi Berland shlit"a told the story of the boy Yossele in the town, who used to run wild—until he heard one of the fathers say to his son, “You won’t be like Yossele.” In his heart, a decision formed: he was going to learn Torah. He went to the yeshivah of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin and began learning Torah there. And even though letters were sent to him from home that his father was ill and that he should return, he did not allow these obstacles to interfere with his Torah learning—until he merited to become great in Torah.

Afterward, The Rav shlit"a strengthened everyone regarding persistence in Torah. He then spoke from Torah 8: “I saw, and behold—a Menorah of gold, all of it, with its bowl upon its top.” After that, he spoke from the weekly parashah, Shelach-Lecha, and about Yehoshua’s humility: even though he knew there were those who wanted to kill him, because of the prophecy of Eldad and Meidad—“Moshe will die and Yehoshua will bring [the people] in”—he was not afraid, and he went on Moshe’s mission. The Rav shlit"a then spoke about how, in this month, Esther pleaded with King Achashverosh: “And Esther continued to speak before the king, and she fell at his feet, and she wept and begged him.” He then concluded with wondrous new insights from the parashah Shelach-Lecha, seasoning his words with the hidden treasures of the holy Torah. At the end of the shiur, the participants went out to Maariv, with the participation of The Rav shlit"a, as every evening, in the plaza of the prayer hall.
