Write For Yourselves • The Ceremony of Completing the Letters for the 'Maor HaNachal' Synagogue

Last week, on Tuesday, the 2nd of Elul, a ceremony for the completion of the letters of a Sefer Torah (Torah scroll) took place at the home of our teacher, Rabbi Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days). The Torah scroll was brought into the "Maor HaNachal" Breslov Chassidic Beis Medrash (study hall and synagogue) in the city of Beit Shemesh.

The Sefer Torah was dedicated by the Chassid, Rabbi Gabriel Grossman shlit"a, one of the veteran students of the Rav shlit"a, for the elevation of the souls of his parents: R' Eliezer ben R' Menachem z"l (of blessed memory), Mrs. Toibe Rechel bas R' Gabriel Chaim z"l, R' Yirmiyahu ben R' Menachem Tzvi z"l, and Mrs. Bila bas R' Yehuda z"l.

As mentioned, the ceremony for completing the letters was held at the home of Rabbi Berland shlit"a on the day preceding the Torah scroll's induction. Participating in the event were Rabbi Gabriel Grossman shlit"a and his son-in-law, the Chassid Rabbi Motta Frank shlit"a. During the ceremony, the Rav shlit"a delivered words of Torah, mentioning the deceased in whose name and memory the Sefer Torah was being dedicated, and he also shared stories from years past.
