The Secret of Esther, the Secret of Atik Yomin – Daily Ma’amar by Rabbi Eliezer Berland Shlit”a

How is the Ten Commandments connected to Mordechai and Esther, and what is the inner meaning of the verse, “Let there be sought for the king young maidens of beautiful appearance?”

All this and more in the Daily Ma’amar courtesy of the “Hashem Hu HaElokim” Pamphlet:

The Secret of Esther, the Secret of Atik Yomin

“And all the people saw the voices” – they are the voices of Megilat Esther, the secret of the redemption.  That then is fulfilled “Let there be sought for the king young maidens of beautiful appearance” – they are the 36 true Tzaddikim that are in every single generation, who are of good appearance, and there is no flaw in them, and they never tasted the taste of sin.

Because now when we read twice Megilat Esther, “and what was decreed upon her” – she is Vashti, the kingdom of impurity, who reigned over 127 countries in place of Queen Esther and cancelled the rebuilding of the Holy Temple.

But now: “The young lions roar after their prey” – they are the true Tzaddikim, who rectify the 288 (plus 1=289) sparks which remain in all the vessels of the Ten Sefirot.  And therefore, Boaz takes ten Tzaddikim in marrying Ruth, to rectify all Ten Sefirot of the World of Nekudim (210).  Therefore, the Jewish people were in Egypt for 210 years; to rectify the Ten Sefirot of the World of Nekudim, then was the redemption and the Song of the Sea, and after this, the giving of the Torah.

And now, Esther and Mordechai came to renew the giving of the Torah, the acceptance of the Torah from love, and not from fear – because then in the giving of the Torah ‘He covered them with the mountain like a vat’ [Shabbat 88a].  And they were liable to exile, because they violated the 7 Mitzvot of Bnei Noach, that for this, there was not the covering with the mountain like a vat.

But now Hashem appointed over them a king harsh like Haman, who decreed to kill, annihilate, and destroy; and then they saw the power of Hashem as You spoke saying.  As it is said “And now may the strength of my Lord be magnified (Yigdal) as You have spoken, saying” [Bamidbar 14:17], with an enlarged Yud [in “Yigdal”], opposite the Ten Sefirot that were rectified completely on Purim.

And then; “It was turned about” – and then the whole evil kingdom fell and was nullified – “That the Jews ruled over their adversaries,” and all 11 chieftains of Esav, numerical value Serach bat Asher [=1411], who entered with her body to the Garden of Eden.
