The past year doesn’t need a lot of introductions and explanations about how ‘different’ it’s been.
We all felt that 5780 was a very unusual year, that something new and very great spiritual changes came into the world over the last few months. Without listing here all the many different events and the changes that have occurred this year, suffice to say that everyone understands that ‘normal life’ stopped, and the whole planet was suddenly catapulted onto a totally new path.
And our spiritual leaders were warning us about this new direction, and have been for many years, decades and even centuries. Below, we bring a round-up of some of the latest sources describing how 5781 is going to the biggest year ever, for the Jewish people.
Rabbi Netanel ben Yeshaya z’tl: Malchut Edom ends this year

Rabbi Netanel ben Yeshaya, one of the great rabbis of Yemenite Jewry, who lived about 600 years ago.
He hinted in his book called From the Light of Darkness, a commentary on the Torah, about events occurring in the year that ends 5780, and about the year that begins in 5781, and wrote as follows:
“The fourth kingdom will last 5780”
And as explained in the book Sod Hachashmal:
“As is well known, as stated in the dream of Daniel, the fourth kingdom is the kingdom of Edom, and it ends in the year 5780. Then, it seems that the rule of the nine months will begin, as stated in the Gemara. And then afterwards, [it will be] the time of redemption and the kingdom of heaven forever, amen.”

Rabbi Shalom Arush Shlita – the last Rosh Hashanah without Moshiach
Rabbi Shalom Arush Shlita, head of the Chut Shel Chessed Institutions and one of the most well-known rabbis in the Jewish world today recently made same unprecedented remarks about the importance of going to Uman this year, for Rosh Hashana.
In that message, Rabbi Arush used words that he has never said before.
We bring an excerpt below:
“I tell you with certainty that God will help us, we will meet after Rosh Hashanah, remember what I tell you: this Rosh Hashanah is the last one without the Moshiach.”
Rav Arush continued:
“It is very possible that on this Rosh Hashanah the Moshiach will be revealed. Anyone who knows me, I have been giving lessons for more than 40 years. [Rav Arush turns to address his son, Rabbi Nachman] How many years have you heard me speaking? 10 years! Have you ever heard me talk about the Messiah?”
“I did not speak, but now already things are happening that a person can see them. I can’t explain, but please don’t miss out, because this year you will receive such gifts.… Whoever comes to Uman this Rosh Hashana….That’s why there are such big obstacles [this year]. “

The Chatam Sofer – the year of the Moshiach

The Chatam Sofer was one of the greatest poskim (halachic decisors) of all time, as well as being one of the most well respected leaders of the Jewish people. Around 200 years ago, the Chatam Sofer wrote in his commentary on Parshat Bechukotai that the year 5780 will be a very hard year, but the year 5781 will be a year when the poor man is raised up from the garbage.

Rabbi Pinto, shlita, refers to the words of the Chatam Sofer
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto, shlita, head of the Shuva Yisrael institutions and Av Beit Din of the Jewish community in Morocco, mentioned in one of his latest shiurim the words brought above from the Chatam Sofer, and added a sharp twist to them. Here are his holy words:
“Now is the month of Elul. What are we and what is our life? There’s a terrifying Chatam Sofer, a frightening Chatam Sofer [commentary]. The Chatam Sofer said that this year, the year 5780 would be a satanic year, and that the year 5781 would be the year of the Moshiach,” explained Rav Pinto.
Rav Pinto continued:
“It’s not just some Rav saying this, we’re talking about the Chatam Sofer. You should know that our grandfather, the Baba Meir, was strict about reminding his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren – the Baba Meir didn’t use to move from the writings of the Chatam Sofer.

Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlita – 5781 – The Day of Salvation for Israel
During the difficult period of exile, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlita, was in South Africa. For a short period of time the rabbi disappeared, everyone thought he was in Guatemala, but Rabbi Berland was actually in South Africa.
The date was Rosh Chodesh Elul, August 2015, and during a lesson he gave to the world, Rabbi Berland revealed the reason for the torments he is going through.
Moreover, Rabbi Berland also then revealed what was going to happen in all the years that followed until 2021. These are his holy words.
“Now we have forty days until Yom Kippur and 45 days before the soul of Moshiach will be actually revealed”.
THE RAV NEVER SPOKE ABOUT THE GEULA IN THIS WAY BEFORE
At the time, Rav Berland’s comments stunned many of his followers and veteran students, who said that in all the decades they’d spent learning Torah at the knee of the Rav, they’d never heard him speak about the geula in this way before.
At that time, two years’ ago, many people believed that Rav Berland was referring to the coming Succot festival, 5776. But as that year came and went with no apparent revelation of the Moshiach, or obvious redemption of the Jewish people, Rav Berland’s comments were quickly forgotten.
Yet, to discount the Rav’s prediction of imminent geula were a huge mistake, for in the self-same shiur that he gave on Erev Rosh Chodesh Elul, Rav Berland, shlita, also explained that while the revelation of the Moshiach would begin in 5776 on Yom Kippur, that process would actually continue for another 6 years until the end of 5781.
Rav Berland, shlita, said then:
“We are now preparing the Yom Kippur of 5776, preparing the Yom Kippur a day of salvation of 5781 when the Rosh Hashanah will come out on Shabbos and Pesach on Motzaei Shabbos and there will be a Purim Meshulash, when there will be the geulah, then it will be a day for relief, 5781, so will the true salvation to Israel, which Daniel prophesized that this will be on two thousand and three hundred, morn till eve, 2300 years, which will end in 5781, the year of Israel’s salvation.
The Rav continued:
“AND NOW WE ARE PREPARING IN THESE SAME SIX YEARS, AND THOSE SIX YEARS FROM 5776 UNTIL 5781, THESE ARE YEARS OF REDEMPTION. THESE ARE YEARS IN WHICH THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WILL DO TESHUVA, THE BIGGEST CRIMINALS WILL DO TESHUVA, BECAUSE THERE ARE NO SECULAR IN THE JEWISH PEOPLE, AND THERE ARE NO CRIMINALS AMONG THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL, AND NO WICKED PEOPLE OF ISRAEL.”

Bezrat Hashem, the geula will come with great mercy, a type of mercy that we all understand, and the redemption will come in a way that will see everyone redeemed the sweet way.
