“We invite Rav Meir Malka to speak a few words,” Rav Shlomo Elmeliach shlit”a welcomed Rav Meir Malka shlit”a to speak before the giant crowd gathered at Bar Ilan intersection at the prayer gathering for the release of our Rebbe, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a.

“To the entire holy community that’s found here – everyone comes [here] from an inner scream, a scream of the heart, a scream of pain, a scream from the depths of the heart, a scream from the highest heavens,” opened Rav Meir Malka shlit”a, one of the long-standing and unique students of our Rebbe, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit”a.

“What will be done with us?  What will be done with our father?  Days, and more days, and more days, in this way…the malice, the wrong, the injustice, as the son of the Rav shlit”a mentioneda little bit of humanity, a little bit of mercy, a little bit of Jewishness…where?

“All the more so that we’re talking about the Rabbi of Rabbis, our Rebbe Rav Berland shlit”a.  Even if this was a simple Jew, it would be fitting to bestow the minimum amount of humanity, of consideration.  But our eyes don’t see this, our ears don’t hear this.  We only hear from the health standpoint of our Rebbe Rav Berland shlit”a – painful things, and we only hear a tiny bit.

“What can we say, what can we speak?  Our only strength is prayer.  However, anyone who it’s in his power, as the son of the Rav shlit”a spoke, anyone who it’s in his power to act in any way — that we shouldn’t stand from afar [silently].   The essence of our gathering in this place now, at this hour, which itself is a sight and makes heard to all the Jewish people in every place [that] our scream is great, our scream is great and deep.  Look and see – what will be with us, what will be with the flock, what will be with the souls of the Jewish people.

“There is only one Jew in the generation who gave himself over to this principle with complete and total self-sacrifice, to take to heart the souls of the Jewish people.  There are souls that have no father, no true shepherd, faithful and loving, who will look at them – only our Rebbe the Rav shlit”a gave himself over to this for years.

“Look and see, Am Yisrael!  All of these souls are part of us.  How fitting for us to honor, assist, and love someone who puts his mind to these souls.  Look Am Yisrael, please awaken yourselves [and] who it’s possible to awaken for the sake of our Rebbe the Rav shlit”a.  He is the merciful shepherd.  This mercy is obligatory for all the Jewish people.

“Then if there is one Jew in the generation who took upon himself this holy task, how fitting for us to honor him, to support and love him, to assist him.  At the moment, his situation is as it is – then we shouldn’t stand from afar.  That we should wake up and use everything in our power, whether prayer, effort, our anything that can be of benefit.

“Please, Am Yisrael…those who are found here are only a thousandth of all the souls of the Jewish people for whom the scream of their hearts is very great.  Please, Klal Yisrael, please wake up.  Do whatever is in your power.  Begin with prayer…including any sort of effort.

“Until we merit, with Hashem’s help that the evil decree of this terrible and painful injustice that has been done will be sweetened…Even if this was a simple Jew, and all the more so.  We need to expand on this ‘all the more so’ – who knows if each one of us won’t have to give an accounting about this, each one of us.”

“Please, Am Yisrael, please arouse mercy, with a compassionate eye, whether for [the Rav] or for the flock which is waiting for this shepherd…that it should be established with great mercy for us and for the entire Jewish people.  That we should merit, with Hashem’s help, to the great salvation and redemption of our Rebbe Rav Berland shlit”a, amidst health and length of days, with Hashem’s help, for the benefit of the holiness of the entire Jewish people.  That we should merit with Hashem’s help to the complete Redemption, to the good life, soon.”
