A rare talk of arousal from the Gaon and Tzaddik Rav Yaakov Moshe Salmanovitz shlit”a about the great importance of saying the Tikkun HaKlali during this period.

These are his words:

We are found on Saturday night at the meal of David, the King Mashiach – the Mashiach is going to be revealed at any moment.  We see mamash that Rome is falling – Great Rome and Minor Rome, Russia, Turkey, Hashem help [us] – mercy on those people but…

The klipah (evil husk) is certainly falling.  We see that the whole world is horrified mamash, the worst fear – so much suffering with each person.  Ay – “Degeneracy in a person’s home is worse than the War of Gog and Magog” (Berachot 7b).  Mamash we see that the world is horrified, and any moment Mashiach is going to be revealed.  Rabbeinu is going to be revealed.

There are Tzaddikim who are all the time concerned with the rectification of the world.  Everyone knows that Rav Berland all the time is sacrificing himself.  Anyone who looks sees that for years he is sacrificing himself for the sake of the Jewish people, so that there won’t be decrees and that Mashiach will come with mercy.  With the power of Rabbeinu, he merits to do things that…, as it’s written in the Zohar — in the merit of the Zohar, we will leave the exile with mercy.  And in the merit of Likutey Moharan we will leave the exile with mercy.  Through the students of Rabbeinu, we will leave the exile with mercy.

Through the students of Rabbeinu, we will leave the exile with mercy.  We need so much mercy, without end.  Every person knows how much mercy we need.  Hospitals are full, and the decrees are harsh – mamash the worst fear.  Rav Berland shlit”a said last week to say the Tikkun HaKlali – so who am I?  I know who I am, that oy vavoy I am ashamed to take my head out of the sewer.  I’m zero, but people who think that I have some kind of importance asked me [to talk].

Yes, I know that the world is horrified, and we feel that Mashiach is going to arrive.  And I believe in Tzaddikim and in Rav Berland.  I believe in all the Tzaddikim and in Rav Berland.  I know that Rav Berland does awesome things, so there is mamash no doubt regarding what the Rav said about the Tikkun HaKlali’s.  Behold, the Rav doesn’t have time to make jokes.  Anyone who knows Rav Berland – every second with him is…  I always see this – every word that the Rav says is with responsibility, especially when he says such a thing — the Tikkun HaKlali’s.  Everyone knows that these are measured words.

So, in any case, there is no doubt that we don’t even need to wake [people] up about this.  If the Rav says that this sweetens the judgments from all the Jewish people and from the whole world, then who needs at all to add on to this?  Only that such is this world, which is full of concealments, [so that] everything you need to strengthen and strengthen.  This is a great wonder that I need to strengthen it – who am I?  If only when Mashiach will arrive, they would say that I didn’t delay him.  Every moment, I pray that I won’t delay the Mashiach, but if I can help, I am also here!

Hashem should help us, that all of us should merit to strengthen ourselves and say the Tikkun HaKlali’s.  The very fact that we are saying the Tikkun HaKlali – every Tikkun HaKlali that we say is certainly the rectification of the world.  Behold, the Tikkun HaKlali is the rectification of the world.  We believe that the Tikkun HaKlali is the rectification of the world.  Especially when the Tzaddik sees that this sweetens all the judgments from the Jewish people, that this brings the redemption closer mamash with mercy.  So there is no doubt at all that we will certainly strengthen ourselves, especially since we are found in the critical months: Shevat, Adar, Nisan – that we see that the world is waiting for the redemption mamash.  Everyone, even the non-Jews are saying that Mashiach is coming, and everyone, even we, are saying that Mashiach is coming.  Even those who are found with such apathetic faces are also saying that Mashiach is coming.

Hashem should help us that we should all merit — we who are close to the Rav certainly listen to the Rav’s voice always – will certainly listen and say the Tikkun HaKlali’s.  If only we could merit to add something.  There is no doubt at all that in the merit of the Tikkun HaKlali’s, the Rav will be healthy.  The Rav at all times is sacrificing himself so that there will not be decrees.  If we say the Tikkun HaKlali, then the Rav, bezrat Hashem, won’t need to suffer and to sacrifice himself so much.  Hashem should help that we should all merit mamash, speedily, that a new light will shine on Tzion.

The Tikkun HaKlali of Rabbeinu – Rabbeinu is the source of all the Tzaddikim.  The students of Rabbeinu, especially his greatest students, are bringing and causing the redemption with great mercy.  Hashem should help, behold, behold, Mashiach is coming, and we shall all merit to sing the ten types of melody with our righteous Mashiach, and to say, “This is Hashem.  We hoped for Him.  We shall rejoice in His salvation,” and Rav Eliezer ben Etiya should be health amongst the rest of the Tzaddikim, amongst the rest of the Tzaddikim and Chasidim of Breslov.

And that we should merit to our righteous Mashiach, speedily in our days mamash.

We see that Rabbeinu is mamash spreading in the world.  I also heard now, this moment, that the words of the Rav to say the Tikkun HaKlali reached millions mamash all over the world.  When we see Rav Berland, we mamash see the beauty and the glory of the Tzaddikim, how the Rav appears mamash like an angel of Hashem Tzevakot.  And he says that there is a decree on the Jewish people, a decree of destruction, and the Rav takes onto himself all of these things.

The Jewish people are recruiting themselves to say the Tikkun HaKlali’s.  Now I heard that this has reached millions upon millions.  There never was such distribution as this.  Bezrat Hashem, that we should truly merit to mamash all the salvations in the world in the merit of us listening in simplicity and sincerity, bezrat Hashem.

Over all the ten years that the Rav went through all the suffering in the world, both in health and legal terms… there aren’t such prayers, there were never such Tzaddikim that they made so many prayers for them.

It’s possible to say that millions of Tikkun HaKlali’s were said.   The whole world knows that only the prayers helped.  According to the natural order, there was no chance there.  Also besides the legal and health matters, there were so many complications.  No one believed, no one now believes – and everyone knows that this was only from Heaven.

So now also, continue, like we all have seen that with the Rav there’s no natural course, and baruch Hashem, there’s no natural course.  With Rabbeinu there’s no natural course.  So we shouldn’t be tempted to the aspect of “my strength and the power of my hand” and to weak-handedness, to go relaxed – only that we should exert ourselves with all our strength, each person in his way, each person according to his capabilities to say as many Tikkun HaKlali’s [as possible].

And Hashem should help us, that we should all merit, bezrat Hashem, to continue the miracles which are above nature, above nature – not nature.  There’s no nature, only the Tikkun HaKlali, only prayers, bezrat Hashem, until our righteous Mashiach.

  1. Since reading the Tikkun is a sacrifice of our time, does this mean that every time someone reads the tikkun, they are literally lengthening the Rav’s life by offering up their time as a free gift to him? It helps me anyway to think of it this way.

    • I don’t know, but it definitely gives him the health and strength to fight the wars that need to be fought and to bring closer the redemption.
