Activities of the 'Mishkeni' Organization
Summary of the Lesson in the Home of Rav Berland shlit"a
On Wednesday afternoon, the mentors of the 'Mishkeni' organization, dedicated to advancing and assisting students in their studies, entered the home of our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. The organization operates in collaboration with the 'Chaburat Bnei HaNe'urim L'Avodat Hashem'.
The activities of the 'Mishkeni' organization focus on assisting students who struggle with their studies and with understanding the subjects taught in the yeshivot. The organization's mentors are mostly young married men (avreichim) who dedicate themselves to being of assistance to the students; it is worth noting that they do this entirely on a volunteer basis.
As part of the organization's efficiency, the mentors meet monthly for a committee meeting, where they place emphasis on how to strengthen and improve this act of kindness (chessed).
As they do every month, the mentors met this month as well. Following their regular meeting, they went up for a strengthening lesson from our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a.
In the lesson, our teacher, Rav Berland shlit"a, spoke about the virtue of being of assistance to students who struggle with their studies. Our teacher explained and demonstrated how to make learning beloved to the students, how to explain to them the words of the Gemara in Kiddushin regarding the fact that one cannot perform a betrothal (kiddushin) through thought alone as one can with terumah, and in the process, he transitioned to words of aggadah regarding the act of Miriam, whose sole intention was to save her brother, Moses. During the lesson, our teacher shlit"a provided encouragement regarding the importance of distancing oneself from the prohibited devices, as decreed by all the great leaders of Israel.
At the conclusion of the lesson, the avreichim—the mentors of the 'Mishkeni' organization—left the lesson strengthened to continue to bolster and be of assistance to the precious students of the 'Shuvu Banim' community.
