On Wednesday, Parshas Devarim-Chazon, the night of the 4th of Av, our fellow followers (Anshei Shlomeinu) from the city of Givat Olga, near Hadera, entered for a lesson (shiur) at the holy residence of the Rav (Rabbi Berland) shlit"a. Before you is a summary of the lesson which lasted about fifty minutes: He began the lesson regarding the journey of the Ark of the Covenant and its capture from Shiloh, and how Shaul (Saul) walked 180 mil (a Talmudic measure of distance) in one day, as brought in Midrash Shmuel. Afterward, he spoke about current events (Inyana D'Yoma), regarding how he traveled to Shechem on the 1st of Av, and how during the Gulf War they stopped all the missiles by reciting the Tikkun HaKlali (The General Rectification) with shouts together with his daughter on the roof of the building. Continuing, he told stories about the first people who drew close to Shuvu Banim and the beginning of the Yeshiva. The Rav (Rabbi Berland) shlit"a said that the spiritual awakening (hisorerus) that existed then is what gives him life until today. Furthermore, he gave encouragement (chizuk) regarding the greatness of the Shabbos songs (Zemiros), and how important this is for the education of children. He brought a story from one of the great Zionist leaders who said that all he remembers from Shabbos at his parents' home in Poland was only the delight (oneg) of the Shabbos Zemiros. He also added encouragement to wake up before sunrise, saying that through the melodies (niggunim) and the Shacharis (morning) prayer, we create the sun anew every day! Afterward, he spoke about the greatness of the fruits of Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel) as brought in the Gemara (Talmud), and interpreted the verse "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your departure... nations shall be called to the mountain," explaining that the nations of the world ask Zebulun, who travels all over the world, "How do you have such abundance?" And Zebulun's answer is that it is only in the merit of (bizchus) the holy Torah! Towards the end of the lesson, he returned to the matter of the Tablets (Luchos) with which Shaul ran 180 mil in one day. He spoke about the hiding (genizah) of the vessels of the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple)—the Ark of the Covenant and the Menorah—by King Chizkiyahu (Hezekiah) beneath the Temple Mount (Har HaBayis).
