A Shiur for the Outstanding Bochurim of Yeshivas Chochmah V’Daas at the Home of the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

A Special Initiative for the Bochurim of Shiur Beis and Gimmel at Yeshivas Chochmah V’Daas ○ Summary from the Shiur

Last night, a shiur was held for the students of Yeshivas Chochmah V’Daas at the home of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. The bochurim from Shiur Beis/2 and Shiur Gimmel/2 toiled over the past months in a special strengthening initiative, and in the end they merited to enter further inward—into the holy inner chamber—for a long and special shiur for the precious bochurim of “Breslov Chochmah V’Daas,” under the leadership of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a.

At the beginning of the shiur, The Rav shlit"a spoke words of encouragement about learning Gemara, and he also spoke about matters of Chanukah. Afterwards, he moved on to the sale of Yosef in Parshas Vayeishev, and other weekly parshiyos—expanding on the blessings Yaakov received, and also on the burial of Rachel, who was buried “by the word” (according to Divine instruction). Later in the shiur, The Rav shlit"a strengthened the bochurim regarding early semichah, and he spoke in depth about what is written in the Rambam—that even a person whose two simanim were cut can still perform kiddushin and can still give a get. He also discussed several additional topics in Torah analysis, including disputes among the Rishonim and Acharonim in a number of sugyos in Shas—such as ever min hachai—which in truth was the root of the dispute between the brothers and Yosef HaTzaddik. He elaborated especially on the sugya of a ben shifchah: whether he is considered a mamzer, or considered a son—and if he is considered a son, whether that is with regard to inheritance, or with regard to being a Jew in every respect. With the depth of this sugya, The Rav shlit"a concluded the shiur for the bochurim of the yeshivah. Afterwards, he inquired about the state of their learning and blessed them that they should merit to rise higher and higher in Torah and yiras Shamayim, in the path of Rebbe Nachman, our holy Rebbe.
