Shuvu Banim Activities in the City of Ofakim ○ A Summary from the Shiur for the Close-Knit Avreichim

In the southern city of Ofakim as well, people have merited to draw close to the Light of lights—Rebbe Nachman zy"a—through the path of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. In the city there is a not-small number of Litvish avreichim, students of HaGaon Rabbi Shimshon Dovid Pincus zt"l, who merit to illuminate their souls and receive their vitality from The Rav, Rabbi Berland shlit"a.

These newcomers have merited to enter further inward into holiness this past Monday night, the night of the 19th of Menachem-Av, for a special shiur—living words of Hashem—from the mouth of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a.

At the beginning of the shiur, The Rav shlit"a spoke about the episode of the Golden Calf mentioned in Parshas Eikev. After that, he spoke about the importance and lofty value of hearing a shiur directly from the Tzaddik. He then spoke about guarding the eyes. Later, he added teachings from the Aggadah in Tanach, and also the story of Eliyahu on Mount Carmel. He concluded with the matter of Yosef being sold, and mentioned Torah 4—how Yehudah’s bones were rolling about in the coffin. And from the fact that Yosef merited to use his time in prison for dancing, The Rav said that a person can finish the entire Shas even if he is in jail, and he mentioned the people who were arrested in the days of the underground movements and completed Shas several times.

The strengthened avreichim left the home of The Rav, Rabbi Berland shlit"a, fortified for the rest of bein hazmanim. There is no doubt that this shiur gave additional strength to begin “Zman Elul” with even greater desire for learning the holy Torah and serving Hashem—so one of the avreichim tells us.
