A Story of Salvation: The Blessing That Brought a Child After Eight Years of Waiting
A dear Jew from the Gur Chassidus shares an open miracle he experienced very recently with our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. This moving story illustrates once again how a single blessing from a tzaddik can change an entire reality, even when it seems that the salvation is delayed.
Eight Years of Waiting
It all began less than a year ago, when the Rav shlit"a came for a visit on Menachem Street in the holy city of Jerusalem. This Gur Chassid was also present at the location, and he decided to seize the rare opportunity to approach the Rav and ask for a blessing.
With a broken heart, he told the Rav shlit"a about his precious daughter. She had been married for eight years already, but unfortunately, she had not yet merited to be blessed with children, with viable offspring. Eight long years of waiting, hopes, and disappointments culminated in that very moment of meeting the tzaddik.
The Tzaddik Decrees and Hashem Fulfills
The Rav shlit"a heard the father's pain and did not hesitate for a moment. He turned to him with absolute certainty and spoke a few, yet powerful words: "Now she will be blessed with a child, with the help of Hashem, may He be blessed."
The promise of the tzaddik did not take long to materialize. Baruch Hashem (Thank God), just about two weeks ago, this Jew received the joyous and moving news of "Mazel Tov" upon the birth of a baby, his new grandson.
This story, whose details are known and familiar to anyone who wishes to verify them, is a living, beating testimony that the tzaddik decrees and Hashem fulfills. The blessing of the Rav shlit"a pierced through all the heavens and brought light and joy to a home that had waited for this for so many years.
An Amazing Story About the Escape From India That Echoed Until the Morning Light
Every week, on Thursday night (Leil Shishi), a special and regular gathering takes place at the "Nachalei Netzach" Yeshiva in the Mea Shearim neighborhood. Many Jews come to this gathering to tell and hear stories about our teacher, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. Time and time again, new and breathtaking stories are heard that have never been told before, and the gathering usually lasts for many hours. "The stories of the wonders of the tzaddik are like water that has no end," the participants describe the uplifting feeling during those nights of spiritual elevation.
The Revelation of Divine Providence
The many stories heard in the gathering serve as a new revelation of the Divine Providence of Hashem, may He be blessed, who has made, makes, and will make all things happen. Through these accounts, it becomes clear to everyone that there is none besides Him, and there is no such thing as nature or coincidence in the world. Everything is completely nullified before Hashem and His faithful servants, who practice self-sacrifice at every single moment for the sanctification of His Name.
For the listeners, every such story is a tremendous sanctification of Hashem's Name that strengthens pure emunah (faith). One week, the enthusiasm and thirst to hear more and more were so great that the gathering continued uninterrupted throughout the entire night. The participants were forced to stop the stories only when dawn broke and the time for the morning reading of the Shema arrived.
The Harrowing Story of the Escape From India
On that unforgettable Thursday night, the Chassid, Rabbi Ronen Dvash, arrived at the gathering. He began to unfold before the attendees his wondrous and awe-inspiring story about his famous escape from prison in India. The story was so complex and fascinating that it took him several hours to tell it, even while skipping details and summarizing. The audience sat mesmerized, thirstily drinking in every word about the open miracles and the power of the tzaddik who accompanied him during his most difficult moments.
The words Rabbi Ronen spoke that night left a profound impression on all the listeners and echoed far and wide. Eventually, this harrowing testimony was published and printed as a complete book titled "The Escape From India," which compiles the entire sequence of events. In addition, anyone who wishes can listen to the full story on the Breslov Information Line (extension 9148). These stories continue to revive souls, constantly reminding us of the power of emunah (faith) and the greatness of the true tzaddikim.
A Story of Faith: The Wondrous Light Shining in the Darkness of the Generation
Today, we live in a dark and challenging generation, a time when we often feel like blind men groping in the dark. Daily reality seems closed off and difficult, and the concealment is so great that it is hard to see the truth. Yet, specifically within this darkness, the immense loving-kindness of the Creator of the world is revealed through His true tzaddikim.
The light that breaks through the darkness
Suddenly, in moments of grace, Hashem, may He be blessed, shines His wonderful and sweet light upon us. This light reminds us of an eternal and clear fact: He exists, His Name exists, and His kingdom and faith exist forever and for all eternity.
This illumination restores our hope and revives the soul. It reconnects us to pure faith in Hashem, may He be blessed, and in the true tzaddik, the guide of the generation, who illuminates the path for us even in the most difficult days.
The illusion of nature and the victory of faith
Sometimes, all the laws of nature that we see before our eyes seem so saddening and depressing, may Hashem protect us. Material reality threatens to close in on us from every direction. But the truth is that all this reality is nothing but a thin and fragile shell, exactly like a spider's web.
With a little strengthening in faith and patient waiting for salvation, all the concealments fall away and disappear. The harsh reality dissipates, and like a fleeting dream, it vanishes as if it never existed. We remain clinging to the light of Hashem, understanding that there is no power in the world other than the Creator of the world and holy faith.
A story of a long wait and a sudden miracle beyond the laws of nature
Whoever hears this story gains a tremendous lesson about the power of faith. It is a clear message of how we must strengthen ourselves and never despair. Even if, Heaven forbid, one sees no light or hope on the horizon, it is forbidden to give up. Hashem, may He be blessed, hears the cry of the poor and the groan of the prisoner, and no request is ever lost.
The power of perseverance
One Jew, a precious chassid, experienced a period of darkness and concealment. Despite the immense difficulty, he refused to surrender to despair. Every single night, he would sit and complete the entire book of Tehillim (Psalms) from beginning to end. He cried out to Hashem, may He be blessed, with copious tears, pouring out his heart in hope of salvation. Thus passed another day and another day of vigilant anticipation and long waiting.
From darkness to a great light
After long months of cries and tears, salvation arrived in a wondrous way. Suddenly, in a single moment, a new light dawned in his life. He emerged from darkness to a great light through miraculous miracles, completely unconnected to the laws of nature. This story illustrates for us how in one moment everything can open up, and how perseverance and faith ultimately bring about complete salvation.
A wondrous story: The promise in the prison and the wait for the walls to fall
A certain Jew who was in great distress and imprisoned merited to receive an encouraging message from Morinu HaRav Eliezer Berland shlit"a. In those days, the tzaddik said that a Pidyon Nefesh (redemption of the soul) needed to be brought for him, and promised that afterward, "everything will be like a white dream."
Self-sacrifice and love of friends
The friends of that Jew did not stand idly by in the face of his distress. With tremendous love of friends and true self-sacrifice, they all united together to save him from prison. They worked tirelessly, and indeed succeeded in obtaining the redemption sum requested by the Rav shlit"a. Praiseworthy is their portion that they merited to unite for this holy purpose of redeeming captives.
After the transfer of the Pidyon Nefesh, the Rav shlit"a sent that chassid a long and special prayer to recite in the prison. Among other things, the trembling words were written there: "Master of the Universe... bring down the walls of the prison... blind the eyes of the police and the guards." These words instilled in the prisoner tremendous hope and the strength to continue and hold on.
Burning faith between the walls
That chassid would recite these words with great awakening and tremendous strengthening every single day. His faith in the words of the tzaddik was so tangible and pure that every time after reciting them, he would look around to see if the prison walls had already fallen.
He anticipated salvation at every moment, but at that time he still did not see anything changing according to the laws of nature. And so passed six months of waiting, anticipation, and uncompromising burning faith, out of pure faith in the Sages that the words of the tzaddik would indeed be fulfilled.
