And in this Merit, We Will Have a New Synagogue • A Campaign for Guarding One's Speech in the Synagogue and Answering "Amen"

In recent weeks, the 'Mora Mikdash' (Awe of the Sanctuary) Institute of our holy community launched a campaign following an exceptionally rare letter of encouragement from our teacher, the Gaon and Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a (may he live long and good days). He writes that in the merit of guarding one's speech in the synagogue and answering ninety "Amens" every day until Simchas Torah, we will have a new synagogue, with Hashem's help. Before you is the full letter:

Erev Shabbos Kodesh (the eve of the Holy Sabbath), Parshas Pinchas 5784

A Letter of Encouragement for Mora Mikdash

From now on, everyone should be careful not to speak idle words in the new building, and not to speak at all during the prayer service. In this merit, we will merit to see the coming of the Mashiach (the Messiah). And each and every person should take upon themselves to answer 90 "Amens" for 90 days until Simchas Torah, which will be in three months. In this merit, we will have a new synagogue of 1,000 floors; on every single floor, there will be 10 mikvaos (ritual baths). The building will spread over 9 streets from 4 sides. On every single floor, there will be a yeshiva (Torah academy) for every age and every situation, and for every Maseches (tractate of the Talmud), there will be an entire yeshiva. Everyone will study Choshen Mishpat, Orach Chaim, Even HaEzer, and Yoreh De'ah (the four sections of the Shulchan Aruch). There will be a special yeshiva for the Ketzos HaChoshen, Nesivos HaMishpat, and Tokpo Kohen (foundational works on Jewish civil law), and a special yeshiva for the Rashba, Ramban, Ritva, and Meiri (classic Talmudic commentators). There will be a special yeshiva for the Responsa of the Chasam Sofer, and a special yeshiva for the Noda BiYehudah, and likewise for all the Responsa (halachic queries and answers) of all the generations.

With the blessing of the Torah and great love,

Eliezer Berland
