On Friday, a Brit Milah was held for the great-grandson of our teacher, the esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. Matityahu, the newborn, is the son of Rabbi Nachman Goldblum and the son-in-law of Rabbi Shmuel Stern, head of the Nachlei Netzach institutions.

After the prayer, our teacher Rabbi Berland shlit"a sat down for the Brit feast, together with the family.

The Holy Words of Our Teacher, the Esteemed Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

"Yesterday was the yahrzeit of Rabbi Natan, who was Mashiach ben Yosef, and our Rebbe was Mashiach ben David. The whole matter is to continue Mashiach ben David; Rachel, although she was the 'main house,' did not merit to bring Mashiach ben David, only Mashiach ben Yosef." "Only Leah, who was hated, could bring [Yehuda from whom comes] Mashiach ben David, as our Rebbe says that only someone who has enemies below has no judgment above, and whoever rebukes is automatically hated by everyone." "The dream of Yosef - 'and behold the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing to me,' was fulfilled in Yehoshua who stopped the sun and the moon, he said 'Sun, stand still at Gibeon and Moon in the valley of Ayalon.' The whole work of a person is to stop the sun and the moon." "In the city of Ekron, there was an idol in the form of a giant fly, and when Ahaziah, king of Judah, sent to inquire of the fly whether he would live or die, Elijah the prophet stopped them, he said to him 'What can a fly help you?' And thus he did not fear the king, Elijah feared no one. So he killed twice squads of 50 soldiers and an officer above them, together it comes to 102 people, and he received 102 life sentences for this, and therefore he lives until today to complete the years of imprisonment decreed upon him." "So why didn't he kill Jezebel? Rather, Jezebel would dance and lift her heels."

"Yaakov was hated by Esau, it is written, and Esau hated. What did Esau envy? Esau received all the most blessed countries, Yaakov only received Eretz Yisrael, most of which is sand. Most of Eretz Yisrael is sand and the fruits grow only through artificial irrigation. And now rains have fallen and people are swept away. There were people who wanted to go to the sea on Shabbat, so the sea came to them." "Because [even the leaders of Zionism said that Shabbat must be kept]. Ahad Ha'am said 'More than Israel has kept the Shabbat, the Shabbat has kept them.' Shai Agnon recounted that Bialik saw someone lighting a cigarette on Shabbat in the middle of his speech, so he shouted at him 'Get out of here, here we do not desecrate Shabbat!'"

"And in the manifesto of Tel Aviv from the year 5669, there is a whole clause that one of the foundations of the city is the observance of Shabbat. Initially, Tel Aviv was several neighborhoods, there was the 'Ahuzat' neighborhood, then they united into one city. Now we are already on Thursday night, approaching Shabbat, in 48 hours Shabbat candles will be lit."

"Shabbat candles and Shabbat songs are Mashiach ben David, a person must be a spark from Mashiach ben David." "Terach is Tav-Resh-Chet, Tav-Resh corresponds to the 600,000 souls of Israel, and Chet is Chavarta, for he merited eight paths. Job was a reincarnation of Terach, and if he had not complained, they would have said 'The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, and the God of Job' (Pesikta Rabbati 48). And Benaiah ben Jehoiada seized the spear from the Egyptian, he was a spark from Moshe who killed an Egyptian man, a person must not strike even if everyone shouts at him that he is a thief and a criminal." "Therefore it is written about Benaiah 'but he did not attain to the three.' Because David was the soul of Mashiach ben David, the external forces overcame him, and all his days he was pursued and he moved from cave to cave in Adullam and throughout the southern Hebron hills. There are two Carmels, there is Carmel in the southern Hebron hills and there is the Carmel near Haifa where the event with Elijah took place, where they proclaimed "Hashem is the God, Hashem is the God." "King David received three times 70 years, 70 years from Adam the first, and another 70 years from Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph, and another seventy years from Methuselah, Jared, and Enoch. The Ten Sayings ask: If so, he should have lived 210 years - but King David did not sleep or eat but only studied Torah, and in 70 years he accomplished the work of 210 years." "David could conquer the whole world, he wanted to conquer Rome but Hashem told him not to conquer because they would return it. King David wrote 2500 verses in Tehillim." "All our work is to reveal the soul of Mashiach ben David, which was our holy and awesome Rebbe."
