Eliyahu, the Angel of the Covenant • The Bris Celebration for the Great-Grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

Today, the 24th of Teves, a bris was held for the great-grandson of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a—the son of his grandson, R’ Shmuel Aizik Zucker (may he live and be well). The bris took place in the holy residence of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, with his participation.

At 10:25, the bris ceremony began, with the sacred mitzvah performed skillfully by the mohel of our community, Rabbi Yosef Shor. Those honored with holding the baby were R’ Shimon Cohen, R’ David Sofer, R’ David Borshtein, R’ Nachman Zucker, R’ Yehudah Stern, R’ Naftali Zucker, and R’ Wiesel. The chassid R’ Eliyahu Sukkos was honored with the Chair of Eliyahu. R’ Yosef Chaim Krishbavsky was honored with “from the chair” (carrying the baby from the Chair of Eliyahu) to the knees of The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, who was honored as the sandak and with reciting the blessings. And his name was called in Israel: Avraham, son of R’ Shmuel Aizik.

After the bris, The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, sat down for the bris meal together with the family and delivered a lengthy shiur for fifty minutes.

For most of the shiur, The Rav shlit"a spoke about Eliyahu, the Angel of the Covenant—how he desired to see Hashem in the cleft of the rock—and many other subjects, drawing from the hidden treasures of Torah in his holy way. After more than fifty minutes of the shiur, The Rav shlit"a began singing “U’re’eh vanim l’vanecha” (“May you see children to your children”) for a few minutes, and then returned to his room.

May it be Hashem’s will that The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, merit to see nachas from all his descendants, with healthy flesh and radiant light! Mazal tov!
