Likutey Tefilos Part Two, Prayer 17

עורך ראשי

"The eyes of all look to You with hope, and You give them their food in its proper time. You open Your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing." Master of the Universe, grant me an honorable parnassah (livelihood) before I even have need of it, in a way that I will merit to turn away from evil and always do what is good in Your eyes, and truly be aligned with Your good will. For You know how much the pursuit of parnassah confuses me, holds me back, and weakens my mind from strengthening myself in Your service.

Master of the Universe, I know that I am very, very far from an honorable parnassah, because I have blemished so much against You; I have ruined my deeds and thereby forfeited my parnassah. But I have come before You, Who is full of compassion, like a beggar at the door, like a poor and destitute person going from door to door, spreading his hands, asking and begging for a free gift and a charitable kindness. Please grace me solely through Your abundant mercy, solely through Your immense lovingkindness, and provide my parnassah from Heaven. Give me all my needs, and all the needs of my household, and all those dependent upon me, and all those accompanying us, before we even need them. For our eyes hang upon You alone; our eyes look and wait for You alone.

Master of the Universe, You are the Cause above all causes and the Reason above all reasons, and You can orchestrate circumstances for the good in Your abundant mercy, in such a way that our parnassah will reach us easily, without any confusion, without any burdens or exhaustion, and without any natural causes. Rather, provide us with parnassah in Your abundant mercy, easily and with great speed, and may the parnassah be drawn down to us for the good, in great abundance. May we merit to elevate and clarify the parnassah with great holiness, so that we merit to eat and drink in great holiness and purity, in a way that our eating and drinking will be purified, and holy sparks will be elevated from them in the aspect of the Ketores (holy incense), until they become "beautiful words" (imrei shefer), which are blessings and thanksgivings to Your great and holy Name. And these beautiful words will ascend and unite with the King, and a crown will be made from them for the King. May we merit to see this crown, as it is written: "Go forth and gaze, O daughters of Zion, upon King Solomon, upon the crown with which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, and on the day of the gladness of his heart." And may we merit to see the King in His beauty, as it is written: "Your eyes will behold the King in His beauty." And do not delay our parnassah because of this [the need for these spiritual rectifications], for You "can do everything, and no purpose can be withheld from You." For You can orchestrate circumstances for the good in a way that our parnassah will come to us with great speed, without any delay whatsoever, and without any business, cause, or burden at all. And despite all this, we will still merit to see the King in His beauty, "with the crown with which his mother crowned him," which is made from the beautiful words that are elevated and purified through parnassah and holy eating. And fulfill for us the verse that is written: "Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion. Who satisfies your mouth with good, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Our Father in Heaven, act for Your own sake and have mercy on us, and orchestrate circumstances for the good, in a way that our parnassah will reach us before we even need it. Provide us with all our needs honorably and peacefully, in a permissible manner and with great holiness, in abundance and with great tranquility. Save us from debts and loans, and help us to quickly pay off all the debts and loans that we already owe. Guard us from now on from ever falling into debt again, for You know that debts and loans deeply confuse and distract us from the little bit of Your service that we are constantly preparing ourselves to truly begin.

Have mercy on me and on us, our Father, the Merciful Father, Who nourishes the entire world in His goodness, with grace, lovingkindness, and compassion. Grant me, our entire fellowship, and all of Israel an honorable parnassah before we even need it, in a way that we will not need to trouble our minds with parnassah at all. And do not make us reliant upon the gifts of flesh and blood, nor upon their loans, but only upon Your full, open, holy, and generous hand, so that we may never be shamed nor disgraced forever and ever. May we merit to elevate and clarify the parnassah in great holiness and purity, in the aspect of the Ketores (holy incense) that gladdens the heart. And bring us our righteous Mashiach speedily in our days, and may he reign over us, over all of Israel, and over the entire world. And may the verse be fulfilled in us speedily: "Your eyes will behold the King in His beauty; they will see a land stretching afar," speedily in our days. Amen, may it be His will.
