Listen: A Wonderful Talk by Rabbi Moshe Tzanani - The Dispute of Korach Renews in Every Generation - The Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a
Shuvu Banim International is launching, with Hashem's help, a new line of student talks. In a talk delivered this morning to the holy group at the 'Shuvu Banim' yeshiva, Rabbi Moshe Tzanani spoke about the dispute of Korach that recurs and intensifies in every generation - unfortunately, these matters are painfully relevant. These are his words.

"In all periods, there is the same issue that existed during the dispute of Korach - the Torah is not stories from the past, the Torah is eternal. Pride leads us to think we can manage on our own, a person does not understand their true place, because if they did, they would immediately nullify themselves completely and attain humility. It is not for nothing that we undergo many trials and transitions in our generation, only in this way do we understand that we cannot do it alone. Drawing close to the tzaddik purifies a person until they can become a tzaddik themselves through the tzaddik's neshamah (soul) entering them. Rabbi Natan achieved this and thus reached his high level. But, it's a battle, the evil inclination leaves everything and fights the tzaddik and his students by stirring up disputes against them. We see what is happening now with the Rav shlit"a, the evil inclination knows that the Rav is dangerous for them, and the closer a person gets to kedushah (holiness), the more the forces of impurity fight against them."

"Torah without the tzaddik can turn and cause a person to interpret it incorrectly, the study must be with guarding the covenant, with the light of the Torah. Those who draw close to the tzaddik merit that their Torah study leads them to yearning and good desires. The disputes against the tzaddik come from people not seeing the wonderful things being done with us. We receive wonderful illuminations and vitality, but we do not attribute them to their source. We get confused into thinking all these successes are from us, I pray, I innovate insights. But, our holy Rebbe writes that truly we are like a pen in the hand of the writer, we do not understand that all the innovations are not from us at all. When we are distanced a bit from the tzaddik, we begin to feel emptiness in our heart and remember where all the light came from. You have not fallen, you were simply returned to what you truly are. When a person leaves the tzaddik, they lose their vitality and fall lower and lower."

"The tzaddik who has ascended in his spiritual level brings down light to those who draw close to him from the place where he is, therefore our holy Rebbe said about himself: "I am a new jug full of old," that the light of the tzaddik that he brings down to us is a new light. And this is what is said about those who study Torah: "If he merits, it becomes for him a potion of life; if he does not merit, it becomes for him a potion of death," because not everyone can merit to receive the light of the Torah, indeed they study, but one must come to the tzaddik to help us so that the Torah becomes a potion of life."
