Listen: With Hashem's Help, You Will Dance Until Morning
Miracles of the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

"The shidduch (marriage match) of the Children of Israel is as difficult as the splitting of the Red Sea"—how true these words are in our generation, and how necessary is the blessing of the true tzaddik.

It is told in the Midrash (Bereishit Rabbah, Chapter 68) that a certain matron asked Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta: In how many days did Hashem create His world? He said to her: In six days. She said to him: And from that time until now, what has He been doing? He said to her: Hashem sits and arranges shidduchim (marriage matches): the daughter of so-and-so to so-and-so. She said to him: Is this His craft? I, too, can do this. I have many male and female servants, and in one short hour, I can pair them up. He said to her: If it is easy in your eyes, it is difficult before Hashem, "like the splitting of the Red Sea." Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta left her and went on his way. What did she do? She took a thousand male servants and a thousand female servants, stood them in rows, and said: So-and-so shall marry so-and-so, and so-and-so shall marry so-and-so, and she paired them all in one night. The next day they came before her—this one had a wounded head, this one had a dislocated eye, this one had a dislocated arm, this one had a broken leg. She said to them: What happened to you?
One said: I do not want this one; the other said: I do not want that one. Immediately, she sent for Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta and brought him. She said to him: Rabbi, your Torah is true; it is beautiful and praiseworthy, and everything you said, you said correctly.
"We heard that a blessing from the tzaddik, Rav Eliezer Berland shlit"a, brings about miracles and wonders," begins Rachel, telling the story of her miracle. "Therefore, we turned to the gabbai of the Rav shlit"a and forwarded the names of our daughters and their ages for a blessing. We added that we did not understand the reason for the delay in finding their shidduch (marriage match), as they are successful and from a good home, and the matter was simply baffling."
"We heard the Rav shlit"a say in a recording that a pidyon nefesh (redemption of the soul) must be performed and that by Pesach there would be miracles—'With Hashem's help, you will dance until the break of dawn'—and indeed, that is how it was. Even before we finished the 'Sheva Brachot' of the first daughter, the very next day we closed the vort (engagement) of the second daughter, exactly as the Rav shlit"a had said."
"We thank the gabbai who took the trouble to send us the recording of the Rav shlit"a; it encouraged us greatly and filled us with much hope. And of course, we thank the Creator of the world, for whom you were the messengers, for all the kindness He has shown us. Although we prayed much, we saw with our own eyes how the blessing of the tzaddik was effective."
