Here are the headlines—and what you’ll find in the expanded, fascinating “Hitchadshus” magazine:

“Reclining in Bnei Brak”

Rabbi Berland shlit"a grew up in his younger years in the city of Bnei Brak, and it was there that he began to flourish. Before you is a series of articles about Rabbi Berland shlit"a throughout his years in the Torah city of Bnei Brak:

“He is a man of learning” — The years in the Volozhin Kollel: the chavrusas and Torah insights. The home at 23 Rashbam Street, and the special closeness to the Gadol HaDor—Maran the Steipler—and to the gaon Rabbi Gedalia Nadel zt"l. // Nachman Gilad, Yosef Shlomo Golombek.

“He is a Chassid” — Beginning with the night of Purim in the Breslov yeshivah, when he said, “Here I will sit, for I have desired it…,” the Breslov “seraph” whose prayers echoed throughout the Torah city. R’ Yitzchak Vitzhandler shlit"a, in an interview about the period when he came to know The Rav from Minchah prayers in the main hall of the Breslov yeshivah. // Nachman Gilad, Shlomo Weizman

“He is compassionate” — The tremendous teshuvah revolution led by Rabbi Berland shlit"a for ba’alei teshuvah, which began in 5729, through Rabbi Berland shlit"a and his wife—the Rebbetzin (telit"a). Featuring stories from the first close students, and the letter in which Rabbi Berland shlit"a engraved his vision for founding the yeshivah. // Nachman Gilad

“He will build His House” — The holy yeshivah founded in 5738: Hitchadshus went out to the Torah city to search for the sacred buildings in which a generation of Hashem’s servants was formed—ignited by the fiery spirit of Rabbi Berland shlit"a. With captivating descriptions from those days—days of splendor in the early years of the holy yeshivah. // Nachman Gilad, Yosef Shlomo Golombek

“And Yaakov Went Out from Be’er”:

For nine months, Rabbi Berland shlit"a was held under strict house arrest in the towns of Be’er Yaakov and Zichron Yaakov. Aharon Schwartz traveled to the communities where The Rav shlit"a stayed and heard—from residents and from the supervisors who merited to serve in the inner sanctum—stories and chizuk about Rabbi Berland shlit"a’s wondrous avodas Hashem, and how deeply his presence impacted the community. // Aharon Schwartz

“Their Line Has Gone Out Through All the Earth”:

After a decade of spreading the light of the Tzaddik on a global scale, and bringing thousands close to the great light of Rabbi Berland shlit"a: the director of the information hotline, Rabbi Yaakov B’Nissan, in a riveting interview about the hotline’s vast activity—crossing communities, sectors, and congregations; countries and continents—in spreading the light of the Tzaddik. // Meir Yaavetz

“Eish Moharan”:

Rabbi Shmuel Charuzhinsky, a Lithuanian avreich from the city of Modi’in Illit and the son-in-law of the mekubal HaGaon Rabbi M. M. Karp shlit"a, who merited to draw close to the great light. “Is He Not Dear to Me, a Precious Son?”:

The great work being done within the community—yet hardly noticed: the orphans’ organization “HaBen Yakir Li,” led by Rabbi Yehudah Kadosh, who merits to “gladden His own,” providing a full support system for children who have lost their father or mother. In an interview with Hitchadshus, he speaks about the broad scope of the activity and everything surrounding it—and about the strength orphaned children receive from the “father of everyone,” Rabbi Berland shlit"a. // Meir Yaavetz

“At ‘Ten O’Clock’ I’m by the Rav”:

Rabbi Natan Heller shlit"a, one of the longtime students of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, in an interview filled with Emunah—where pain and joy are intertwined—about the הכנסת ספר תורה in memory of his son, who passed away tragically last year. He also shares a few memories from earlier days with Rabbi Berland shlit"a. // Meir Yaavetz

Pillars of the World:

In honor of the days of Bein HaZmanim: a special route in Nahal Amud, where three Tannaim are buried—Rabbi Nechunya ben HaKanah, Rabbi Abba, and Rabbi Yitzchak—from the holy circle of the G-dly Tanna Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai zy"a. // Natan Or Ashad
