Prayer to merit the power of saying Selichot in the month of Elul with a broken
heart and through the power of the Binding of Isaac, that all [judgments] may be sweetened

Master of the World, Almighty, in the merit of saying the Selichot throughout the month of Elul, with a broken heart and copious tears: "If the fourth part of the nest is gone. The tent that He inhabited, if it is emptied. Please, let us not perish, for therefore we have an aged father who bound his son without mercy," for only through the Binding of Isaac are all the judgments in the world sweetened, as the Gemara says in Shabbat 89b, that Isaac says to Hashem, "How much time is left for a person to sin? The first 20 years are not counted, 50 remain, half of them for learning Torah, and half for eating, drinking, and sleeping. If You forgive Your children and pardon forever, half is on You and half is on me, and if You do not agree, it is all on me." And in the merit of the Binding of Isaac and the saying of Selichot, may we merit that through the Binding of Isaac, all my sins and those of all the Children of Israel be pardoned forever.
