R’ Eliyahu Sukkot shlit"a – “We Need Help So There Won’t Be Difficulties for the Holy Community”

The holy tzaddik Rabbi Eliyahu Sukkot shlit"a, a member of the Rabbinical Committee of the holy community Shuvu Banim and one of the most veteran students of our teacher, the holy gaon and tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a, with a sacred call
“We, who merited—Baruch Hashem—that our teacher Rav Berland shlit"a returned home and truly returned to us, receiving the public with prayers and countless other good things that the Rav does for us…”
“It is known among all the tzaddikim—they never go to collect donations themselves. I was by the Rebbe of Amshinov shlit"a, and the Rebbe of Amshinov does not take even a single prutah for himself.”
“Everyone who donates now—these are people who want to give money to the community, for the yeshivah, for the synagogue. Those donors sign checks or give money for the institutions—and this is what we need to do so that our teacher Rav Berland will be free and able to deal with spiritual matters that only he can do.”
“When I first met our teacher Rav Berland shlit"a 52 years ago, I would go with him to all kinds of places—I didn’t even know what a gemach was at all. I would go to Rav Neuberger…, to all kinds of places. The Rav looked at me and said: Truly, there is no money in the world—it is only neshamot (souls); but if there were no money, a person would not move from his chair.”
“The Rav shlit"a would repay various debts that he had, and in retrospect it became clear to me—that almost all the debts our teacher repaid were not his. There were simply people in Bnei Brak that no one agreed to lend money to, so our teacher Rabbi Eliezer Berland took [a loan] for them, as if it were a loan for himself, and he would give the money to those poor people.”
“And not only that—Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a made a condition with them that if they would not return the money, he would pay the lenders out of his own pocket.”
“This is Rav Berland shlit"a—we have no grasp of him at all.”
“We need to help so that there will be no obstacles for our holy community, so that it will continue to burn in the greatest splendor and honor…”
