Rabbi Berland shlit"a Delivered a Shiur to the Avreichim of Kollel "Nachal HaChaim" in Beit Shemesh: Watch

**Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a delivered a moving shiur (Torah class) in his home to the avreichim (kollel students) of Kollel "Nachal HaChaim" in Beit Shemesh. The shiur covered a variety of exalted topics, centering on two great foundations: seeing Hashem "eye to eye" in daily life, and the greatness of the holy Rebbe, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov — "Rebbe Nachman is equal to all the tzaddikim; Rebbe Nachman is the root of all the tzaddikim."**
A Shiur in the Home of Rabbi Berland
The avreichim of Kollel "Nachal HaChaim" in Beit Shemesh arrived at the home of Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a in Jerusalem to receive words of Torah from him. The avreichim sat around the table, listening eagerly to every word emerging from the mouth of Rabbi Berland shlit"a. The shiur lasted about an hour and dealt with a variety of subjects — from topics in the Talmud tractate Yevamos and the commentaries of Rashi, through the stories of King David and Ruth the Moabite, to wondrous revelations about the greatness of the holy Rebbe Nachman.
"A Person Must See Hashem Eye to Eye"
In the central part of the shiur, Rabbi Berland shlit"a dwelled on the figure of Ruth the Moabite, about whom the Sages say she merited to see the Shechinah (Divine Presence) "face to face." Rabbi Berland shlit"a explained that this is the spiritual level every Jew must strive for — not merely to believe in Hashem in one's heart, but to literally see Him with one's own eyes, in every single moment, and in every single detail that occurs in the world.
The Story of the Baron from Uman and the Greatness of the Holy Rebbe
Later in the shiur, Rabbi Berland shlit"a transitioned to a wondrous story about the Baron, who was with Rebbe Nachman of Breslov from the first of Iyar until the day before Rosh Hashanah. Throughout all those months, the Baron assisted Rebbe Nachman on his journeys. On the eve of Rosh Hashanah — when Rebbe Nachman and his disciples were already preparing for the holy Rosh Hashanah gathering (Kibbutz) in Uman — the Baron received a letter from Breslov: "How could you leave us for four months already? Come back!"
Rabbi Berland shlit"a recounted: "He went to the Rebbe to show him the letter. The Rebbe said to him, 'You want to go back? Go back.' The Rebbe laughed at him and looked at him: 'You have no emunah (faith). A Rebbe does not leave you.'"
"Rebbe Nachman is the Root of All the Tzaddikim"
From here, Rabbi Berland shlit"a went on to explain the greatness of the holy Rebbe, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov: "People simply do not know who Rebbe Nachman is; they do not understand. Rebbe Nachman is equal to all the tzaddikim. Rebbe Nachman is the root of all the tzaddikim. He is the root of the Seven Shepherds — all of these are souls that emanated from Rebbe Nachman."
"Rebbe Nachman is 'Bereshis' (In the beginning)," continued Rabbi Berland shlit"a, "which means 'Rosh Bayis' (Head of the house) — this is the very first soul that was emanated. Hashem showed Rebbe Nachman and only then began to create other souls: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Aaron, Joseph, and David, as well as Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah. All of these came after Rebbe Nachman. The soul of Rebbe Nachman — Rebbe Nachman is before everything."
Conclusion of the Shiur
At the conclusion of the shiur, Rabbi Berland shlit"a blessed the avreichim of Kollel "Nachal HaChaim" with warm blessings, encouraging them to continue toiling diligently in Torah study and to establish fixed times for learning the books of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. May the merit of Rabbi Berland shlit"a and the holy Rebbe protect them and all of Israel, with the help of Hashem.
