Rashi—The “Brother” of the Torah • Encouragement from the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a to Begin Learning Chumash with Rashi • Mifal HaTorah

In honor of beginning Chumash Bereishis on Simchas Torah, Mifal HaTorah of the Shuvu Banim community is launching a test-track to strengthen the learning of Chumash with Rashi. Along with the reward that comes with it, those who are tested will merit to enter further into the inner sanctum for a shiur from The Rav, Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a. Before you is the letter that the holy Tzaddik Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a wrote to strengthen the learning of Chumash with Rashi:

With Hashem’s help, for the sake of Heaven, for the sake of Shuvu Banim, may it endure forever—Chol HaMoed Sukkos 5784

A LETTER OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO LEARN CHUMASH WITH RASHI EACH AND EVERY WEEK!!

First of all, before everything else—one must learn Chumash with Rashi every single day, and when there is time, also on Shabbos. For Rebbe Nachman said that Rashi is “the brother of the Torah,” and Rashi is the very essence of the Torah, the very essence of the Shas. Because there never was—and never will be—anyone like Rashi.

Therefore, it is an obligation upon every avreich and upon every bochur from the age of 13 to learn every single day Chumash with Rashi according to the weekly parashah—and to know everything by heart, straight and reversed, with both breadth and depth.

And in the merit of this, each and every one will find his true match, rooted in the Six Days of Creation. And he will merit ten sons, all of them in the level of Rashi and in the level of Rebbe Nachman—the holy and awesome.

With the blessing of Torah and with great love Eliezer Berland
