ROSH CHODESH KISLEV: THE RAV VISITS THE HOLY GRAVES IN THE ARAB TOWN OF CHALCHUL

Rav Eliezer Berland, shlita, has often spoken about the enormous importance of visiting the holy burial places of the Tzaddikim in Eretz Yisrael, including the graves of the Prophet Nathan (who prophesized at the time of King David) and the Prophet Gad.

These two holy tzaddikim are buried in the radicalized and often violent Arab town of Chalchul, located very close to Hevron.

Recently, the Rav spoke again about the importance of visiting these holy kevarim (burial places), particularly in light of the fact that currently so few people go and pray in Chalchul due to security issues.

(The graves of Nathan and Gad are currently located in the middle of a mosque in Chalchul, following the Arab tradition of often building their holy sites on top of existing Jewish holy sites).

The Rav said that precisely due to the difficulties involved with praying at this site, it's possible to sweeten a great many of the judgments hanging over Am Israel.

So on Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5778, Rav Berland requested that his students and followers would accompany him to pray at the site, in order to arouse heavenly mercy upon all of Am Yisrael. As soon as shabbat Toldot departed, the Ravs students set out for Chalchul and the holy graves accompanied by hundreds of his students and followers from Shuvu Banim.

At the graves, the crowd of worshipers recited Sefer Tehillim, and also recited the Tikkun HaKlali in the merit of all of Am Yisrael.
