Seventh-Grade Boys at Talmud Torah “Nechamas Tzion” Receive Certificates from Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

A Lesson for the Young Flock ○ Test and Siyum on the Chapter “HaSocher Es HaUmanin” and Mishnayos Shekalim and Megillah ○ Distribution of Certificates

Like young Torah scholars who are growing in years and stature, the seventh-grade boys—together with their devoted educators, R’ Moshe Deitsch and R’ Mordechai Shlomo Drabermediker, who invest tremendous time in the children’s chinuch and learning, like fresh ink written on new paper—merited yesterday, Monday, 28 Tammuz, to enter the holy residence of The Rav shlit"a. The Rav first opened with a strengthening lesson for the young flock. He began with the weekly parashah that opens Sefer Devarim, explaining that over the course of thirty-seven days Moshe Rabbeinu reviewed the entire Torah with Am Yisrael— including Mishnah and Gemara, halachos and aggados. The Rav expanded on the rebukes with which Moshe admonished Bnei Yisrael, and spoke at length about Moshe’s many prayers in Parashas Va’eschanan. During the lesson, The Rav shlit"a encouraged the children regarding rising early for Shacharis. The Rav then addressed many additional topics, including: mentioning the tribe of Shimon, from whom twenty-four thousand died; a story of the Baal Shem Tov; and learning with the children from the Zohar about the holiness of a person—how careful one must be, from the time he is a child, to be holy, and through this he will merit the quality of rachamim throughout all the days of his life.

After the fascinating lesson, which lasted about fifty minutes, the precious children stepped forward and stood to be tested with questions from their educators. With broad knowledge, they answered the questions from the chapter HaSocher Es HaUmanin, which they had learned over the past year. The children were also tested on Mishnayos Megillah and Maseches Shekalim. The Rav did not hide his great amazement and joy at these precious children, who answered fluently and responded by heart to every question, with such extensive knowledge in Gemara and Mishnayos.

With great love and affection, The Rav shlit"a presented each student with a certificate, signed with his holy handwritten signature, attesting to each and every student’s broad knowledge in the chapter “HaSocher Es HaUmanin” and in the Mishnayos of the tractates Shekalim and Megillah.

Below is the documentation from the siyum and the test, inside the holy chamber:
