The Chatam Sofer and the Rebbe of Kretchnif zt"l Explain the Connection Between
the Coronavirus and the Revelation of the Mashiach

The emergence of the Yosef HaTzaddik of our generation from the prison house directly to the throne of royalty will bring about the solution to Pharaoh's dream.
Already two years ago, the author of the 'Noam Yisrael' of Kretshnif-Kiryat Gat zt"l, foresaw the tiny virus that would turn and disrupt the entire world. "Hashem alone will fight the war of Gog and Magog."
In Parshat Miketz of the year 5778, the Rebbe of Kretshnif spoke about the fact that Hashem can bring down a virus, and the whole world will be in the state of 'we were like dreamers.'
These are his holy words: "And this is Pharaoh dreaming, that Hashem will bring a thing into the world that is like a dream, which has no substance and is not seen; for example, Hashem can bring down a small virus and spread it throughout the whole world, and it will turn and disrupt the entire world from one end to the other, through a dream, despite all the technology of our days, and all the nations of the world will be in the state of 'we were like dreamers' and nothing will help them."
The Admor zt"l further added, "And this is what will happen in the end of days, not by war, not by force and not by intellect, not by the Iranians and not by the Syrians, etc., but Hashem alone will fight the war of Gog and Magog. 'The horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great strength it will not escape,' but only one thing: 'Behold, the eye of Hashem is upon those who fear Him, upon those who wait for His kindness, to save their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul has waited for Hashem; He is our help and our shield, etc.' And by the Children of Israel returning and drawing close to Hashem, they will be saved and redeemed with the complete Geulah."
The Admor of Kretshnif zt"l interprets the arrival of the virus that will disrupt the course of the world as Pharaoh's dream, and it is known that it was in the wake of Pharaoh's dream that they took Yosef out of the prison house. And here, in his words on the Book of Genesis (Chapter 37, verse 2), the Chatam Sofer explains:
"Yosef was shepherding the flock with his brothers, and he was a lad with the sons of Bilhah, etc., and Yosef brought their evil report. It says that Yaakov gave him to associate with the sons of the wives to shepherd, and they handed him over as a lad and servant to the sons of the handmaids, and this itself is the evil report he brought. And through this, one can understand their saying, 'Will you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us?' and they hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words. The explanation is that a rule has been passed down to us: 'From the prison house he shall come forth to reign,' meaning from the lowest depths, royalty will sprout, in the manner of 'He raises the poor from the dust,' 'The stone which the builders rejected,' etc. And if so, since all of Yosef's goal and his reports were that he did not want to accept the yoke of his brothers upon his neck, but on the contrary, that he wanted to rule over them, and how could he reign? And this is 'Will you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us?'—this is impossible. Therefore, 'they hated him all the more for his dreams and for his words,' for they are two contradictory things."
In practice, from the interpretation of the Chatam Sofer and the Rebbe of Kretshnif, it emerges that the solution to the dream—that is, the solution to the coronavirus that disrupts and confuses the entire world—will happen through the emergence of Yosef from the prison house to his throne of royalty. For what happened to Yosef will also happen to our righteous Mashiach, as it is explained: "A rule has been passed down to us: 'From the prison house he shall come forth to reign,' meaning from the lowest depths, royalty will sprout, in the manner of 'He raises the poor from the dust.'"
And the matters are simple to understand, for how is it that they suddenly alarm and take Yosef out of the prison after all those years in the pit? And this is through the dream that comes "by chance" to Pharaoh, and he has no one to interpret the dream, only Yosef who is in the prison house.
And this is what our teacher, the Rav shlit"a, said in the latest 'Shevivei Or' (Sparks of Light), that the essence of the solution to the dream is not the interpretation of the dream, but the solution is to reveal the tzaddik and make him king, then everything will naturally fall into place.
As our Rebbe says, that as much as the tzaddik descends into humiliation after humiliation, he will merit in return to ascend to greatness after greatness... And as the Midrash says, "Just as they rushed Yosef from the pit so that he would receive the royalty, so was David rushed from behind the nursing sheep."
