The Journey to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai on Lag BaOmer Sweetens the Judgments - The Righteous Rabbi Eliezer Berland shlit"a

The journey and celebration of Lag BaOmer sweeten the harsh judgment of this day

When we reach the counting of the Omer to the sefirah of Hod within Hod, there is an intensification of judgments! Hod within Hod is severe judgments! And by traveling to Rabbi Shimon on this day, by celebrating Lag BaOmer, all the judgments, all the severities are sweetened. Through Rabbi Shimon, all judgments are sweetened. On the yahrzeit of the tzaddik, on the day of the tzaddik's passing, he sweetens all the judgments! He takes upon himself all the evil inclination! All the sins! All the bad thoughts! He draws all the evil inclination from everyone's mind and subdues and nullifies all the judgments. Just as it was with Reb Zusha and Noam Elimelech when the Baal Davar came to them and said, "You will see what I will do to you!" and it was all because they took upon themselves the evil inclination of all of Israel. They answered him, "You do your part, and we will do ours."

By the power of previous generations, the tzaddik of the generation rises double

Every generation, the later tzaddikim merit twice as much as the tzaddikim of previous generations, they have the power of the previous tzaddikim! They merit twice as much as the previous tzaddikim! Rabbi Shimon has all the power from the previous tzaddikim! The Shevet Mussar says that the later tzaddikim can be greater than tzaddikim from previous generations, and what is said about the decline of generations is a separate matter.

Through self-sacrifice, Rabbi Shimon merited to continue the Torah to all of Israel

When our rabbis entered the vineyard in Yavneh, they said, "In the future, the Torah will be forgotten from Israel," and Rabbi Shimon promised that through him, the Torah would not be forgotten from Israel. What does this mean? Everyone knows that the Torah will not be forgotten from Israel! Every child knows that the Torah will not be forgotten! Rather, the question was through which Tanna the Torah would not be forgotten! Which Tanna would merit that the chain of the Torah would continue through him? All the Tannaim said that they did not see that they had the power to continue the Torah to future generations. They received the Torah, they fulfilled the Torah, they learned the Torah, but to continue the Torah to future generations, that is only for the unique individuals of the generations.

Rabbi Shimon merited to continue the Torah through his self-sacrifice. He stood firmly against the Romans and was sentenced to death. Afterward, he entered the cave and learned with self-sacrifice until he achieved such attainments that he could say that through him, the Torah would not be forgotten from Israel. He reached such attainments that in any darkness that exists, whatever darkness there may be, he can illuminate the light.

Rabbi Shimon is all fire

Why do we travel to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai? Why do we light bonfires? It's all because Rabbi Shimon was all fire! Rabbi Shimon was a bonfire of fire! A torch of fire! All 248 limbs of Rabbi Shimon were of fire! Because twice "torch" is the gematria of 248, all 248 limbs of Rabbi Shimon were a torch for Hashem.

The moment Rabbi Shimon began speaking words of Torah, he was surrounded by flames of fire! All around him were flames of fire! And even on the yahrzeit of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, fire descends from the heavens, 33 days after the Seder night, after Pesach, we merit a great awe! A revelation of the Divine Presence! A revelation of the fire! All the mountains surrounding the tomb of Rabbi Shimon are ablaze with fire, for if in his lifetime there was fire burning around him, then all the more so after his passing! For tzaddikim are greater in their death than in their life.

One who does not believe in the tzaddik is like one who worships idolatry

If a person does not believe in tzaddikim, does not believe that the tzaddikim are alive and exist, does not travel to Rabbi Shimon, does not believe that Rabbi Shimon is alive and exists, then it is as if he worships idolatry! It is as if he bows to flies! As the Gemara says in Tractate Shabbat (83b), the moment the tzaddik disappears, the moment Gideon passed away, they abandoned Hashem! They needed to cling to something! So they went to bow to flies, they went to cling to flies, they made themselves pocket flies! Because when one does not go to the tzaddikim, does not believe in the tzaddikim, then there is no emunah (faith) in Hashem! And the mind begins to twist, to twist and twist endlessly! Until they reach actual idolatry! Therefore, those who do not travel to Meron, those who do not travel to Rabbi Shimon, those who do not believe in tzaddikim, they mock Rabbi Shimon! Because by not traveling to him, not ascending to Meron, it is as if they are making a pilgrimage to Gaza, they are making a pilgrimage to Gaza! Quite simply! Because they need to cling to something.

Rabbi Shimon turns transgressions into merits and becomes a vessel for new abundance

When a person comes to a tzaddik like Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, then all his transgressions are turned into merits, he merits that everything turns into merits, he merits that Rabbi Shimon washes him from all the sickness of his sins, Rabbi Shimon gives him new intellect, new understanding, only that he should not be in the category of "I will sin and repent." If there is no "I will sin and repent," then Rabbi Shimon gives him entirely new intellect, entirely new understanding, entirely new mind. Rabbi Shimon transforms his entire essence, transforms his entire body, gives him a holy body from Gan Eden, gives him a new fortune for the new year! Because when the body is replaced, when the body is purified, the fortune of the person rises!

Our Rebbe says in Torah 83, Part 2 - Why does a person have poverty? Why does he lack sustenance? It's all because of the "oil of the snake," which is his body! That he destroyed it! Sinned against it! Transgressed against it! By defiling it and polluting it with terrible desires and impurities, and therefore he has no channel for sustenance, no vessel for abundance. But the moment a person comes to Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, the entire body is replaced, the entire body is purified, his entire essence is transformed! The spirit is transformed! The neshamah (soul) is transformed! Everything is transformed! And then he becomes a vessel for new abundance, becomes a vessel for such abundance that has never existed before, he becomes a vessel for such great abundance that he can even influence the entire world.

Lag BaOmer is truly Yom Kippur

Lag BaOmer is truly Yom Kippur, a day when all sins are forgiven, it is truly like "Kol Nidrei," everything is forgiven! Everything is sweetened! The greatest kindnesses are revealed on it, the most wonderful kindnesses, on Lag BaOmer one can draw all the intellect, all the healings, and all the salvations for the entire year, it is a day when all diseases can be healed! There is no healing in the world that cannot be drawn on this day, all cancers can be healed, everyone can be blessed with children, everyone can find their match, this day is a day of annulment of vows! Everything is sweetened! Everything is erased! All the transgressions a person has committed, millions of transgressions from the day of his birth until this day, transgressions from all reincarnations, everything is forgiven.

A person travels to Meron for 3 hours, pushes, suffers there among thousands upon thousands of people, and through this, all his transgressions are forgiven, all his blemishes of the covenant, everything he has sinned all his life is forgiven, and this is what is written "Rabbi Shimon rejoices" – Rabbi Shimon rejoices!! Rabbi Shimon rejoices when he sees that hundreds of thousands of people travel to him, all of Israel travels to him! Every year more and more people travel to him, and truly no one knows what is happening here, no one can understand this, the matter of this journey, people do not know why they are traveling, why they are celebrating on Lag BaOmer, but "even though he does not see, his fortune sees" – the whole land celebrates, they make bonfires and do not know exactly why and for what.

In truth, one must know that the tzaddik is the root of all souls, he is the foundation stone, he is the root of everyone, he is the root of every neshamah (soul), he is the eternal soul! And he merited the eternal soul for eternity! And all of Israel are sparks of this soul! Every soul is a small spark from the tzaddik, the spark of Rabbi Shimon is in every Jew, the neshamah of Rabbi Shimon is in every Jew, this is a soul that includes all of Israel, encompasses the entire world, embraces all the worlds and all the sefiros, and therefore everyone travels to the tomb of Rabbi Shimon to be included in the soul that includes all of Israel. And when one merits and travels to Rabbi Shimon, one must know it is Rabbi Shimon who draws us to him! Sweeps us to him! Takes us to him! And anyone who feels Rabbi Shimon is immediately swept to him! He is swept to him because it is the root of his soul, he is swept to him because he is a point from Rabbi Shimon. Rabbi Shimon is the Jewish point that is in every Jew.

The tzaddik is alive and exists, and he is truly divinity

A person must travel to Rabbi Shimon with self-sacrifice! Rabbi Shimon calls us – "Come to me, ascend for 2-3 hours, you are already with me!" All the abundance in the world, every blessing in the world, prayer, Torah, kedushah (holiness), everything a person needs, he can receive, just come, travel, you must first travel! The tzaddik is alive and exists, he is truly divinity. One must know that when traveling to Rabbi Shimon, one is not traveling to a person at all! One must travel with reverence! Traveling by car, by bus for two or three hours, travel with reverence with books, with prayer, with Hitbodedut, a little humming, not laughing! Not joking! Not doing foolish things! Travel for the sake of Heaven to purify and sanctify, and then Rabbi Shimon can continue for you endless salvations, endless kedushah and purity, he can give you a new neshamah, nothing is limited with him! There are no limitations with him, he can give you everything! Everything you think, everything you want, he will give you, just travel with reverence seriously.

The "Beit Aharon" says – that the highest level in all the verses of the Book of Psalms is "My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You," that even the body! The flesh! Turns into a soul, even the flesh no longer feels any physicality, any desires, the body, the flesh, burns with love for Hashem, and this level "my flesh longs for You" can be achieved through Rabbi Shimon, through the fire of Rabbi Shimon, that the fire burns around him day and night, because Rabbi Shimon is the letters B.S.R.Y – a person comes to Rabbi Shimon seriously, dances all the dances, then he merits that all his flesh, all his physicality burns! And he reaches the highest level "my flesh longs for You."

Traveling from emunah in Rabbi Shimon and not from social pressure

Everyone who merits on Lag BaOmer! Everyone who travels seriously to Rabbi Shimon! Everyone who cries on Lag BaOmer! Everyone who truly dances on Lag BaOmer! Will not stand dreaming, foolish on the side, will truly dance! Will believe that Rabbi Shimon is alive and exists! And will not travel due to social pressure, will not travel because the other is traveling, but he will travel because he believes that Rabbi Shimon is alive and exists, and will pray with enthusiasm, will dance with enthusiasm, will not stand on the side during the dances, as the Rambam says that anyone who sees dancing and stands on the side is a complete fool! And a complete heretic! Who does not believe in the powers of the tzaddikim! Does not believe in the powers of the dances! Does not believe that the tzaddikim can impregnate him! Because Rabbi Shimon needs to descend even lower during the yahrzeit! To impregnate all those who come to him and through this to nullify all the decrees.

So when traveling to Rabbi Shimon truly, to receive his advice, to receive his guidance, to receive from him the prayer with intention, traveling to merit to fulfill what is written in the Zohar! Traveling to honor the Zohar! To honor those who listen to the voice of the Zohar! All those who rise at midnight, those who have love for Israel, all those who pray at dawn, are assured all the salvations, because everything the Zohar says is holy of holies, and if I have not yet merited to fulfill the words of the Zohar, then blessed are those who merit "Blessed are those who travel to your tomb and study your teachings," so all those who travel with sincerity to fulfill the words of Rabbi Shimon, are assured that Rabbi Shimon will impregnate them! The neshamah of Rabbi Shimon will impregnate them! Those who will travel to Rabbi Shimon truly! And will put their head in the book! In Psalms! In Gemaras! In holy books! And will hold their head! And will hold their heart! And will yearn for Rabbi Shimon truly! Will merit that Rabbi Shimon will impregnate them truly! And they are assured to be true tzaddikim and to bring the redemption to the people of Israel in the blink of an eye, Amen.
