The Media Publishes - "A Rare Letter Revealed – "The Shul of Rav Berland"

Today, 17.11.18, the website Aktualik published an article titled - "The Battle for the Shul: A Rare Letter Revealed – 'The Shul of Rav Berland'". Further in the article, Yehuda Weiss writes, "In the shadow of the controversy over the Breslov synagogue in Mea Shearim (the Shul), Shuvu Banim reveals a historical document in which the founder of the Shul writes to Rav Berland over fifty years ago, in the name of the then-leader of Breslov, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Bender, that he should come to the Shul 'regularly and consistently...'"

Weiss continues and writes, "In the letter, Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Rosin, the one who actually established and built the Shul in Mea Shearim, addresses Rav Berland and thanks him for a class he gave in the synagogue. In his letter, he describes the feelings that were in the place and quotes the words of the leader of Breslov in the previous generation, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Bender, who served as the chief rabbi of the Shul for decades and served as the rabbi of the Breslov Chassidim back in Uman about a hundred years ago. He expressed to him that the class that Rav Berland gave in the Shul at that time brought about an awakening among the Breslov Chassidim the likes of which he could not remember since his time in Uman in previous generations among the great Breslov Chassidim, and he requests of Rav Berland for the future 'that he continue to revive us as on this day' and come to the Shul 'regularly and consistently'.."

"This document is effectively a game-changing weapon against the claims of Rav Berland's opponents that he is supposedly 'taking over the Shul' and that it does not belong to him.., the Chassidim of Rav Berland also tell of enormous sums that Rav Berland brought for the construction and maintenance of the Shul for years, among other things presenting a document from decades ago in which they thank him for a donation toward the construction of the synagogue in the amount of eight thousand dollars, which was an astronomical sum at that time."
